hello,

I have a ps3 that shutdowns when i'm playing a game. it doesn't give any lights on the display, so I have to take out the cable to get it working again.
I searched on the net but couldn't find a solution except turning the OCP a bit(seems to be a known problem).
I cleaned out the ps3 and applied new paste(artic silver5) but still nothing. I'm not sure if it's a ylod symptom or overheating because when I stream a 1080p with ps3 media server it doesn't shut off. Playing a movie doesn't stress the console ofcourse like playing a game, but still I find it weird it doesn't shutdown.
anyone have an idea what the problem might be? could it be the psu or will it be overheating problems? I'm gonna wait before I turn the OCP and possibly fry my console.
model: CeCH 2004A 120gb, psu: aPS-250

yes, that was the first thing I did. It was on 3.56 so updated it to the latsest one. Though, I did got stuck in an update loop and couldn't enter the recovery menu(fix was that there was still a game in the drive, lol). Also tried with another hdd(still shutdowns)
But did some more testing today. I had the board out of the case and opened the psu aswell. After playing one hour and letting it idling for 4 hours it didn't shut down..
So, it seems it is overheating somewhere when it is put back together. The cpu/gpu doesn't feel extremly hot but the psu is a little to hot I think, couldn't keep my finger on it after a while.
If I turn the OCP a little bit you think it will fix this? Or what does this OCP do anyway?
