Seen you guys might like them, here is a list of the DOSBOX packages I made... They all come with a background explaining controls , some come with a startup menu (episode games) ...

X = jump , this is a mirror to joystickk-UP , the game uses the amiga scheme where UP = Jump
[] = fire (keep pressed for power beam)
O = (pres DOWN + circle to morph into a rolling ball that destroys all - beware of gaps LOL)
triangle = pause

Start = ENTER (also use it to start game in the main screen , fire does not work it is a game bug)
Select = ESC (use it to exit game)

L1 = Y (YES in the question if you want to use a continue (and you have it) when you lose all lives)
R1 = N (NO in the question if you want to use a continue when you lose all lives)

press DOWN + FIRE + SPECIAL to make a devastating special move attack

game is set to SoundBlaster16 22khz sound, no point in higher quality IMHO , you can change it in the

startup menu if you like :)

X , O = spacebar (to start the game while in the title screen)
[] = Zoom in/out
triangle = Y (used to exit game when pressing SELECT in main menu and return to XMB)

Select = ESC (to restart the level)
Start = return to title screen

L1 , R1 = left/right (mirror keys for left/right direction)


Use direction keys to move the dwarf (he can push some objects if there is nothing behind them).
Press X and left or right to change the level to the previous or next level, respectively.

Game is set to Sounblaster sound , which is the best it supports.

To kick a bomb in one direction or the other, hold ACTION, press and hold LEFT or RIGHT, then DOWN.
To poke a wall or flip a switch (or anything else), hold ACTION and press LEFT or RIGHT.

Controls:
F1 - toggles music on/off
F2 - turns sound effects on/off
F9 - adjust speed (0 =slow, 9= fast)

ALT - cast spell (circle button)
ENTER - see inventory screen (start button)
CTRL-Q - quit game (select button quits immediatelly)
SPACEBAR - use weapon (in caverns only) (square button)

Moving Duke Garland
Use the arrow keys or joystick to move Duke Garland in the direction you wish him to go. On the joystick, the square button is for weapon, the circle button is for magic. On the keypad, use the left and right arrow keys to travel. Use the up arrow or cross button to jump, and the down arrow to kneel.

Saving Your Game
To save your game, visit the Sage's hut (usually the only unmarked building in town) and select RECORD. Type in a name (using L1,L2,R1 and R2 for Y,N,1 and 2 respectivelly), and press ENTER (start button). The game will be saved to the current disk and directory, with the file extention .USR

Restoring Your Game
Saved games can be restored from any point by pressing the F7 key. Use the joystick or arrow keys to select a saved game from the list, press the spacebar or square button to activate the game, then press ENTER or start button.

going on with recycled posts :D

I started using the freeware Medley Menu in games that are split to "episodes" (apogee releases mainly) and use the same controls:

this way I won't have to make seperate packages for each episode , you select the episode# you want play and when you quit you get back to Medley Menu and so on - until you select "EXIT TO XMB" :D

there are lots of cool DOS games that are not well known but the ps3 port has limitations and most either run slow or speed/slow down all the time... I wish there was an updated port.... :(

thanks for all your hard work. but i have one question, i am trying to compile some dos games myself but can not figure out how to change the key bindings to the ps3 controller. like how you have done on your games. how do you change the settings for the L3, R3, X, O and etc. I open up the change binds on the dostops3 app but can not figure out how to change the bindings. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

When I made my packages I used the old-fashioned way (DOSTOPS3 was not available back then).
First I made a test pkg that runs the game
Then connect a usb keyboard/mouse to ps3, run the game and use the built-in dosbox key remapper by pressing CTRL+F1
Make the assignments that feel good, save changes and quit the game
Lastly grab mapper-0.74.map from the game's directory and put it in the final pkg

takes some time to get used to it but it works :D

I create mine exactly the same way. I prefer to set it up and edit the dosbox.conf myself and make small adjustments as I go along.

the way u have set up these games is superior to the ways i have seen other people do it. especially how u show the game's controls when you're looking at the the game in the xmb.

i just wanted to make a request for you to port a game called jill of the jungle if you get bored. jazz jackrabbit would also be a good one, i found someone who did it already but it was just the shareware version, and when u change weapons u jump at the same time lol.

edit: pete_uk your work is also much appreciated! u should add the controls to the background picture in the xmb too tho for future releases (just a suggestion), it helps a lot.
