Ok. I am thinking about the available 2 USB slots on my PS3 slim. I have them already occupied with "external hdd" and "Move camera". I was thinking that the only solution to play my "Move Games backups", i must have them installed on my PS3HDD internal, that is: i can unplug the external HDD and have the "move camera" + "true blue dongle".

Can i use a "USB switch" to have 1 USB with - "external HDD + move camera" and 1 USB with "true blue dongle"?

What happens when we have "True Blue" dongle on the PS3, and with the sistem "on", we take it off. Does the system goes unstable?
More than a shutdown, freeze badly. Strucked. Wait 1 second at least, before a restart using power button on the back of a FAT , or unplugging the power cable on slims.

I try ripping FIFA 12 with MM. True Blue Disc..
I got the eboot and SFO file and fifazf.self files and put them in the real scene release.. Ran the game ERROR..
I guess they are doing more of something else bc i was tryin everything
But, how come? Their TB-Disc, only read as Game Data in MM (in Rogero-unreaded) and if i try to copy, it will aborted in 2 second.

nope ... all game in your hdd internal still in there .... all game in 3.55 should worked in TB ... except game like eternal sonata or cod mw 2 which is need BD miror from MM [select + x]

Going on a slightly off-topic curve, why do you think the Microsoft Xbox emulators are still crap to this very day even though it has got the infrastrcture that is similar to an Intel-based PC?

Then again, seeing as I know next-to-nothing on this stuff, please feel free to correct me - but basically, based on what Mark et al had said/hinted, the hardware aspect may not be the problem, but it's the software/firmware aspect of it that is going to be a bit of a puzzle here.

Actually it's more the encryption if anything. Anyone with enough knowledge can reverse engineer the code using IDA or similar. What you need to do though first is get it unecrypted. It's not hard at all. If I had the knowledge I would do it. In fact I have a Teensy dev board and I'm seriously thinking about learning how to code for it. Likewise I do plan on getting a USB sniffer eventually, as well as learning how to use IDA pro.

Note : I believe Mark said you may not even need to decrypt it if your tapping directly into the IC. So I could be wrong on the encryption part. But none the less everything else holds. The SPI flash is really small so it can't have a lot of instructions and it can't be extremely sophisticated. The only other thing you need to do is get the correct patches, etc, from the PS3 side like Mark said.


There is spotty info going around saying that the TB doesnt work on games released in Nov and newer. With this in mind why hasnt MW3 been made to work on TB? Is there any truth in the rumor, because if it is then thats a shitty deal. We got Uncharted 3 for free,( The #1 Game of the year) and those guys cant even make MW3 to work, why not? Or hasnt anyone cared to ask? 2nd Hottest game of the year (MW3) and still not playable on any CFW, why not?

Why not? Because it hasn't been released yet. You people need to have some bloody patience. They are uploading games as soon as they possibly can. If it's not fast enough for you, why don't you ask them if you can upload the stuff for them? (that's rhetorical you'll never have access to their stuff.)

Seriously. It has nothing to do with not being able to do it. It has everything to do with getting it uploaded when they feel like it. They don't have an infinite connection. Therefore it's gonna take time. Do you people realize how long it takes to upload a game? I'm no expert on scene group connections but if you take my connection for instance which is 25 mb/s down and 20 mb/s up. It will take a good 2+ hours for games, depending on the size. So a game like RAGE would take forever. So just be thankful that more then 1 game is coming out every day or every other day. You could have to wait three or four days for every new game.

Sadly I don't have the old M3 kicking around anymore. Girls all have DSI-XL's with R4's now. (wrong chipset)
I would not be at all surprised if this could be done by figuring out the USB connections on the IC and simply connecting a USB cable directly to it (old mouse cable would be good)
Second issue would be a 5v to 3.3v regulator would also be required between the USB 5v and VCC of the IC. (simple really)

The more I look at the TB2 design, the more I am convinced it is just some NDS cart cloner who was tired of not making enough $$ off the NDS and now has a new market with people desperate & prepared to pay anything.
Problem is, if I am right, this will be cloned to death and not worth the plastic housing it sits in.
The only real way for them to save their own arses would be to make a 50% (minimum) price cut immediatly and go for the loyalty/quantity approach.
If I can get my hands on an old M3 or any other cart that has the right chipset, I am happy to sacrifice it for the cause (as will many others now)

Look at the bigger picture. You're not just buying a dongle, but the dongle plus all of the games it can play that we couldn't play otherwise unless on ofw.

What happens if the device is successfully cloned? What if people buy the clone instead of jb2? Will Team True Blue continue to release games? If they do stop, where will people get the patches or in the case of pirates, the full tb compat releases? I know that a clone wouldn't come overnight, but 60 bucks for all of the games we couldn't play before is a steal. Why clone the device? If the device is 20 to 40 dollars cheaper, but the releases stop, is it really worth it to stint this scene's growth again. If you were to release a clone( theoretically), could you pick up where TB left off in releasing patches? Assuming you could, why wouldn't you just make the patches work on regular cfw? Wouldn't you just be playing the same game as Team True Blue? And how would you sell it if you chose to clone? Would you choose the same retailers, who would most likely just charge the same price, even if you charge less?

I think that if we kill this dongle, we kill the scene. That's it, the last nail in the coffin. It would be tragic for the scene to end just because we want to save a few bucks. We kill the dongle and releases stop coming, and the only way to play the rest of the games is to update to ofw until something else comes along, but how likely is that? Most ps3 devs are against piracy and would never make newer games playable because of pirates and the commercial crackers would see no point in it since people will not buy a solution and would just buy a cheaper clone to spite them.

The dongle's value to me is how many things it can do that couldn't be done otherwise and in this case also how many things this team is willing to release.

Kill the dongle, stop the releases, and we're back at square one. And I know that you're not a leecher, but a lot of leecher's will rush to a cheaper clone, but they fail to realize that the clone maker will most likely release any newer games as they probably don't have a way to fix the games for the dongle, they only would know how to make a clone and nothing further. We would punish the worker and reward the the guy not actually working, but slapping his name name on someone else's work and calling it his own.

So is 20/40 dollars worth it for 5 games, yes, is 60 dollars worth it for for all currently unplayable (on regular cfw) games. If the dongle played 5 games for 20 then each game is worth 4 bucks. If 30 games are playable with TB that are unplayable without then each game would be 2 bucks so which one would be the real scam. I'd rather pay 60 bucks for 30 games than 20 for the 5 games that are out now. And then what about even newer games that are not even out yet? What if they work with TB? Then the value is even greater. Even if you aren't a pirate, this is still worth it because assuming that all unreleased games get released, then you could play all of them AND keep the things of cfw such as homebrew and otheros without buying a second PS3 which is a lot more than 60 dollars.

You do realize he was forming his opinion from a purely technical point of view right? he doesn't care about the dongle, the new games, etc. He was just analyzing the dongle and saying it's over priced based on the hardware it takes to make it. Which if you look at it that way, it is really over priced. In this case your paying for the ability to play new games and not the actual hardware of the device.

OK where did you get pay and play pirated games? You only pay for the dongle. You can buy your games from Bestbuy, Walmart, Gamestop, or anywhere else. Or you can just download the releases. you don't have to pay for each game from TB. You are taking my words and twisting them around.

For this device your not paying for the price of the hardware, your paying for what the device allows you to do. Companies usually base their price of their products around the MSRP of the device. Which is Manufacturers suggested retail price. It's basically the overall cost of how much the device costs to make. With the TB dongle you aren't paying that. Your paying a "what is this device worth because you can do XYZ with it." type of thing. So your not paying for the actual hardware but the features that the device brings to the table. As the price of the actual hardware components is pretty cheap.

Well, Mark i really hope that the True Blue dongle can be broken, and for that we will have free games again. Until then, i pay for the dongle and pay to play already this games. It´s a temporary solution.

I am no dev and i have no knowlegde to break True Blue security. So, i have faith on Devs, but until then i know is my only reachable solution to play the newest games.

Sam, I am honestly not shooting those who buy it.

The biggest problem with this kind of activity is it brings others here purely after the money.
How many dongles do you really need?
All of this new info could have been patched directly into a CFW - the dongle is NOT required at all.
That is purely for the money - you have a physical device - so you feel it is worth it.
How many dongles from the original round are sitting in drawers collecting dust?
I got mine still (maximus) but I use it daily to set PS3's into service mode etc.

While I agree with what you are saying, the problem is nobody else has managed to do what the TB team have done yet. Well, we all know that is not the case but the people who have done it, have kept the information for themselves. I have never bashed a dev for what they choose to do with their own work, we have no right to sling mud at them because their work is their property to do with as they see fit. As a result, the TB team have jumped on the bandwagon and are cashing on other devs reluctance to publish their work. This is the kick up the arse that will finally get the talent pool in this scene to do what everybody has been begging for and release a method of playing our new games on CFW 3.55. If they don't then we have to pay over the odds for hardware that contains the content that most people who follow this scene class as the holy grail.

i'm copy once from hdd eks to int successfully ... i'm used old gaia manager for 3.41 to copy from hdd eks to int because before i'm update to TB dongle, i'm used 3.41 hermes ... than i update to kmeaw and cfw dongle .... no strange sound from my internal hdd when loading, it works normally ..... i'm used mm 2.09.02 to play dirt 3 diskless

No, they stole information then reworked it to hide what they did - a direct violation of the Linux open source licence that nearly all of the technology is built from for the PS3 (yep, even the Windows ports)

So it is for those reasons this will be worked on by devs to reverse it and make it FREE again.

There are only around 700 if I am correct. Second the 4000 would cover the PS3 and all of the games for free. And despite each game being 2 bucks a piece, without the dongle atm, there would be no way to play the games unless you are on ofw, even if you bought them at 60 bucks a pop.

Some devs white knight against piracy by day, and go home and play their pirated backups by night. If they planned to release the fixes, surely it would not take as long as doing that AND making DRM. They practically had several months headstart. If they never planned to release it, then there really isn't a problem. Nobody is getting scammed, you cannot scam a perfectly informed customer when your product does exactly what it says it does and no more and your customer knows what it does, cannot do, and what it costs.

Really the order is completely different from what is happening. As the leak has to come after the hoarding or at least before the release. It's like blaming the rape victim for the rape.

Also how many times have this happened? I understand maybe psgroove, but if cobra stole something, wouldn't the devs have already spoken up and released a free version to spite their "thieves"? It's been several months since that was released and still no complain or free release. If True blue stole another's code, then surely more work was put into the DRM then the fixes, in which case the true developer could come out and release or at least confirm the work as his.


Once it is fully decrypted (and back in the open) then you will be able to work on your own games.
The reason it's protected is simple, for you to think they are "gods" and must buy the dongle to keep them releasing games.

Question, even if it is never decrypted/figured out, as soon as they sell as many as they think they can, do you think they will continue to "release games"
If they can flood the market in lets say 6-8 weeks, they have no use for you then.

How will we be able to work on our own games? Making an assumption does not make it true. The dongle is only one half of the equation and a clone is more likely to just do what clones do. Chances are a clone will not take us a step forward. If we make a clone, then we are still at the mercy of the river, and if the river dries up then we will be back at square one.

If Team True Blue are so evil as to dump their customers after making a good profit, then they would surely dump them if a clone came out. If they aren't as bad as you make them sound (especially since we don't even know who they are), then they might not and continue to put out releases. Even if they do stop, 6-8 weeks is quite a bit of time. I would bet they would release most of the current games by then.

They also may have given the tools to PARADOX and PARADiSo. We don't even know how the fixes are being released, whether the scene release groups are just uploading the fixes are if they are the ones actually making the fixes. If they are, then maybe our fears are unfounded, but I would rather take it safe than try to spite them if they are the ones making the fixes.

Lastly, think of the regular user. Up to now, we have had nothing but hoardng devs, scams from not so trusted devs and scams even from trusted devs. The scene stagnates, the people bitch. Then when someone comes out and tries to advance the scene, the scene again bitches. Duplex releases, the anti-piracy preaches. The Cobra and True Blue releases us(from stagnation), the leechers cry foul at the price tag. And Cirque du epeen recommences for a second act. Most of the regular users are just glad the scene is at least moving since the scene was all but dead before thanks to the elite circle who I bet are pissed because the scene is moving and they aren't the only ones playing homebrew and 3.60+. If they stop True Blue, it will be for digital viagra so they can boast about how they stopped the warez mongrelz from playing them damn gaemz.

It pisses us off when a dev hoards something and brags about it and when it is leaked or someone else figures it out, they say that they aren't going to release anything since everybody is ungrateful. But if they were never going to release anything then what does the user thank them for, being leet enough to hack but such an ass to brag and not release? People like Dean work and he releases his work. Look at how revered he is. He is also a very likable people. Now look at people like Math. There is no doubt that he is talented and he does do a lot of work, but he rarely releases due to the warez mongrelz and he can at times be an ass. He also happens to quite hated in the scene for his arrogance. Dean and Math are like night and day and though Math may have more skills, Dean is no doubt the more respected of the two. My point is is that things wouldn't be stolen or leaked as much if the devs would release what they find. Even if they try to sell it, people will get over the price tag eventually and they could even be compensated for their work and if they are after fame, they would get plenty of that as well, much more than teasing, unless they want infamy then can't there would be a problem for us, but they could just keep going hoarding, but they only have themselves to blame if they really want good fame. If TB did steal, it will eventually come to light with evidence, but for now, just because they have a price tag, does not make them thieves, much less evil.

P.S. Gary, do you know if they stole any code? If anyone on Crunch knows anything about it, then I figure you would be the most likely.

That´s exactly my point of view! If some Dev, don´t agree the commercial aproach of True Blue and have the knowledge to release something that can break is security, please, do a favour to us all, and release information. Until then, as a end-user myself, that is my only way to play some recent games. No more, no less.

When i see a great Dev as Kakarotoks, saying that he want to "jailbreak" 3.73 to install homebrew and showtime, i believe that in his heart he really only wants to "open" PS3 a little more, to support homebrew and install some aplications, but he really hates piracy and does not support it. I sincerily think this is great, because in all his knowledge he will release work, for free use, and that just show that he really is a great and "pure" / "good" Dev.

Now, supposing dev made this expensive choice giving you something unique, do you really think someone was going to buy a dongle expensive like a console? How many customers? 10 maybe. How many customers for 60 bucks? Right now we talk, hundred thousand. A step back. No indonesian was talking about a scam when this dongle was just available in indonesia. Instead, indonesian was proud of it, and hundred thousand customers tried to buy this dongle, just for 5 games. They had fifa and pes, hell, was enough for make every store in indonesia full of customers daily, with a massive sold out. And tons of indonesian forums talking about this piece of art giving them new games. Guess now. All those customers got the update, now is quite difficult to find a dongle, because EVERY indonesian with a PS3 wants one. Go figure, my dongle, imported, arrived here with a small stock, just a few, not sure if was a good idea, and 2 copies of those famous BDR, all sold after 4 hours , in the morning. Now, as much i keep call them for a friend of mine, noone of them have a dongle available. Not because they are not importing it. Just because EVERY ps3 owner of this country wants one, so in the order: the store's owner, everyone works in the store, their friends, their friends of friends, after a foreigner. I got mine just because uber lucky, was the last one available in all this country. Now, do you know southeast asia? Guess, not so many ps3 customers are able to pay a 300$ dongle too. Noone is able to clone a Cobra, noone is able to clone a TB. And well, if someone will find a way to clone it, we will have a Cobra clone too. Both "companies" will be destroyed. The 100000 figure for Indonesia is way off by a factor of at least ten probably a hundred given it was merely a test market and nothing else. Production was only ramped for the worldwide market.

A small fact, I do have info, but it is not mine to share. Thats not a "ner ner" it's pure fact.
They never stole code for this, they used techniques & tools developed by the devs (that are released freely) and then masked their own crap in it.
For the final time, I don't give a fuck if you want to pay $500 for it. I own 1 (count it) game and it gets used to test PS3's when the drive is remarried to it.
What use would I possibly have for such a device?
I have no "secret adgenda" all I am saying in all my posts is this thing is a rort regardless of what it does.
I don't make money off the PS3, god knows I could have by now, hell 99.9% of the time I don't even charge people who show up here to have something on their PS3 repaired.

For me the saddest part of all this is you choose to directly support pirates with a cash bonus.
The Cobra has new functions built into it, this is pure piracy and really has no other use. They dont even try to market it any other way.

Problem is though, without these Pirates, this scene has stayed relatively dormant for a long time so thanks to the lack of input from talent pool of devs who work on the PS3, these pirates now have the opportunity to make a shit ton of cash for something that could have been released for free. Once again, I believe a developers work is his to do with as he/she wishes but it's a bit rich if those same developers all of a sudden start getting offended that somebody else has had the acumen to give the masses what they want and get paid in the process. At least these pirates have given the public a choice.

In fairness, selling pirated Blu Ray Discs is pretty blatant but if you look at the dongle itself, it's no different in the end result as say the 360Key or modchip that circumvents a consoles security. It seems that it is only the PS3 scene where the people who can make things happen have a holier-than-thou attitude (and that is not directed at you by any means), where the scene is divided. If developers have such an anti-piracy agenda, then why the hell do they frequent public forums where 95% of the people are there to find various ways of circumventing the security on the PS3 with the main intention of playing games? They should stay away, and keep their work to themselves otherwise it just makes for one big giant soap opera, but I guess some just love the attention it brings them, be it negative or positive.

To summarise my thoughts "Developers should either release their work or keep it to themselves, whichever. If they choose to keep it to themselves then the'yre opinion on what is right or wrong in regards to what another developer does with his/her work is worth nothing and when broadcast in public, is no better than common trolling".

nope still nothing , once i hit X after the error screen ps3 just restarts , sayin that the ps3 didnt shut down properly .
i put this file TrueBlueUpdate-2.2.pkg onto a fat32 usb , installed ok from game>install package files> then i went onto "true blue update v2.2", didnt plug it in till told to.
am i missin some thing else like ..

Which CFW 3.55? Not kmeaw, i hope.. Did you try to upgrade your dongle as i wrote? Try rebug TB, if you prefer. Be sure your backups are downloaded properly.

IMHO rebug TB rule. The ability to use fakesaveowner and restore your saves, either the one locked, and move them and use someone else saves if needed, is priceless :) Go on with Rebug TB. When downloaded, from XMB, install it and you're done. remember to power on your console with dongle inserted, or it will not work. You cannot plug it later when your console is already on.

Has anyone stated that the console auto freeze and shuts down when you remove the dongle. Just chipping this in. Also

1. I'm using the official TB CFW no freeze transferred Portal 2 and Dirt 3 on internal and back onto external. Also tried FTP on Portal 2 no freeze whatsoever.

2. Most games start discless only game not starting discless for me was Alice Madness though I think it will start eventually waited for almost 10mins and it was still installing so I cancelled. It installed under 5mins with disc icon.

Logic and reasoning behind it:
Kakaroto himself started me in this all because I had a different console when PSGroove was in it's infantcy.
It was a Kiosk console that sent me nuts because I could not play along with the rest of the kids in the sandpit.
I could have been another user and moaned about it, but at the time I figured if I don't, who will.
He guided me, hinted, coaxed etc etc until I figured it out.
It took me 36 hours without sleep and a lot of typing between the 2 of us to make a HEX file I thought maybe 10 people could use.

The point is, people like Math in their mind are not teasing you, they are challenging you to think for yourself.
That is the problem, the fact he knows the answer & now someone has to figure it out.
What this scene needs is more people to get off their arse and do something instead of waiting for someone to do it for them.

I don't know Math or any of the other devs and have never had any conversations with any of them. I have the utmost respect for their skills and technical knowledge. I also respect their right to do what they want with their work. I have no issues with anyone but from an observer looking in and comparing it to other console scenes, this is without a shadow of a doubt the most childish scene in regards to how people behave towards each other. I mean some of the shit that goes back and forth on Twitter is ridiculous. It's entertaining, but for such obviously intelligent people, they really let themselves down getting dragged into e-fights with obvious trolls. I agree completely with what you say about Math, to say he has done nothing for the PS3 scene is nonsense, people don't like him because he refuses to hand over the golden goose served on a silver. To me, pointing the finger at him because of that is out of order in the same way that Math or anybody else having an issue with the TB team selling their dongles is very single minded and selfish(not saying math does or doesn't, just highlighting my opinions on double standards/hypocrisy). At the end of the day, True Blue are doing what they are doing because nobody else has yet.

You are right, this scene is crying out for people to get off their arses and do things for themselves. It seems True Blue did get off their arses and gave the masses what they were crying out for.

I wish I had the skills to do something myself, i'm currently doing a degree in ICT and Computing (1st year Open Uni), and am way off the skillset to do so, but one day I hope to be able to take on tasks like these. In the meantime, I hope new talent emerges with the same frame of mind as the likes of c4eva who in my opinion is a perfect example of how a scene developer should be. Then we won't be held to ransom by the likes of TB.

Will it work? Probably. When will it be released? We don't know. I'm personally waiting for only 2 games: Ultimate MvC 3 and Skyrim. But we can't predict when these games will be released.

Alice Madness Returns works both internal and external and with disc in. Discless doesn't error but keeps loading

Catherine works both internal and external both discless and disc.

Portal 2 works both internal and external with disc in. Does not load discless.

Kung Fu Panda 2 works both internal and external with both discless and disc in. NFO says internal but it works on external too.

Bleach Soul Resurrection works both internal and external with both discless and disc.

Not as easy as you make it sound. Some devs are or have been willing to help at one point as long as it doesn't benefit warez mongrels in any way. The second something could be used for piracy, and you will receive no help from them. The elite circle gets all they need to play homebrew and pirated games , be it tools or information and sometimes it is from Sony. When someone asks for help in hacking, they tell them do it yourself. They keep the tools and info they were given to hack and think everyone else shouldn't have them. So if someone does try to go about starting from zero, they get nothing but heckling from the elite circle. Case in point, Team PS360. They may have the skills needed to open the ps3, but they do not have the tools, information, or experience. And because they are a bunch of warez mongrelz, they will receive no help from the elite circle. Then the elite circle teases the scene and Team PS360 trying to show off their leet hacking skills dangling the tools and info just out of reach. Chances are, if PS360 does come up with something, the elite circle will start a shit storm.

If one wants to start hacking, he needs to be an asshole to others, or else he will never get the tools and info he needs unless someone leaks them. If one wants to even begin to learn to code for ps3, he is told by the learned scene elites to go F**k himself (yep just makes a man just want to learn being told to go F88k himself for even trying). For all their talks of opening the Ps3, I'm beginning to think they are trying their damnest to keep the ps3 as closed as possible. I also don't quite know why they seem to hate video games because they do all they can to hinder their playability and they talk down to gamers. I understand they like otheros and linux, I use Ubuntu, but I have a computer for that. It's pretty ironic to hate gamers that want to play games on their gaming machine. While the community for computers are really understanding and try to help users of all skill types, the elite circle, just wants to boast and feel powerful and stifle all information because if everybody was leet, then nobody is leet and the elite would lose their god status.

The first half is similar to the ps3 scene except they tend to try to help you, unfortunately they are afraid of looking like pirates, so they try their best to attack them, the other half is like the 360 scene in that they don't ask questions about piracy or don't care. Both sides advance that scene. Here, only the pirates are doing anything. And commercial pirates at that. The anti-pirates have left the scene alone for too long without advancement and the pirates have taken the torch, the elite are trying all they can to stifle the scene. Well, this is how everything begins. If you take a look few pages ago, i wrote a post with your ! not loading. The reason is simple. I did an uncomplete copy. Check the size, i got it, it is smaller. The ! is programmed with 3d engine from Valve, when your BD is unreadable on some parts. Did the copy again. Works. Next days, you will see some anomalies. From now, every game you will transfer, will struck at beginning, or completed but when you try to load a game right when you finish the transfer, your ps3 will be struck. Manually, or automatically from ps3, you will need to restore your file system. It's what i deal with every new game, right 5 minutes ago with Lord of the rings. That's what i was talking about days ago. Reason? Unknow. I still theorize the reason begins using app home with external games diskless, in particular Portal 2. Needs more tests, and someone need to try so we can figure out the real reason. I truly hope (for you) you will not have the problem i'm talking about, but if you see your ps3 strucked after a transfer, no panic, you gotta deal with it restoring your file system. Portal 2 could be the new ACB troublemaker.

Thanks Barth.I have stated this before the TB patches are edited to be version 99.99 meaning it will never ask for an update therefore updating will break compatibility which means no it is not ok to update (unless TB themselves releases update for said game)

My ps3 works, is not semi-bircked.
I have already reinstalled ofw and then the 3.55 dongle but seems like the key is not recognized.
Multiman says Error: Unsupported system firmware or BDEMU.BIN incorrect version.
I have installed BDEMUv2.pkg but is not working.

Ok, let´s try some troubleshoting, assuming that you have True Blue v.2.2:

1 - Disconnect all USB hdd/dongles/whatever...

2 - Install 3.55 OFW (http://www.ps3crunch.net/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=65); Restart PS3

3 - Install 3.55 True Blue CFW (http://www.ps3crunch.net/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=110); Restart PS3

4 - Connect True Blue Dongle. Run a True Blue Game.

You are the only one who has problems using the TB official 3.55 CFW. Don't make it sound like it is "bad" to scare people away from it. I have done everything on the CFW since I got my dongle and not a single problem. Been trying everything to get same problems as yours but nothing. Quit now.

I just noticed something from the TB game releases list. I haven't seen PES 2012 or FIFA 12 listed from any of them. How could PES 2012 not be on that list? It was the very first game being shown by video with the TB dongle. FIFA 12 should be on that list as well. I don't get the way in which these TB games are implemented into a release list. FIFA 12 & PES 2012 are popular titles.

They both were out pretty close to the same timeframe. It's just weird to me. Maybe the games release list are not right but the ones I've seen posted from different sites list the same games. Am I suffering from :disillusionment:?

Guys! I didn't mean they were releasing the games in any particular order. I was simply stating why PES 2012 & FIFA 12 are not on any lists. Heck, we don't even know if Gary knows the game release order. My point is simply about why certain games like PES 2012(first video proof) & FIFA 12 are totally missing from any sort of compatibility lists whatsoever? Eww no. I'm just studying the reason ME AND BUBBA (not just me) are dealing with this problem. Bubba fixed with a new HDD, i still use mine. If someone else have this problem, togheter we can figure out if it's a game, a particular PS3 model, or something else. I truly hope to be (WITH BUBBA) the only one who met this strange sounds and troubles. Looking other users reports, most play happily, so nothing to be worried, till now.

Happens. To be honest, i'm surprised your dongle has a green/red light. Mine doesn't work at all. I was scared was broken, lol. Do one last test, then contact your vendor asking to change your dongle. Repeat properly the update with this order:
A unplug ANY usb
B Power on your ps3
C install the 2.2 update patch
D load the patcher
E When prompted, plug the dongle
F Wait a couple minutes, you will see onscreen when process is completed.
G remove and reinstall Multiman (if you was using just Multiman)

Are you sure, if you did the update yet, you didn't remove your dongle during the update process?

As last resource, before waste time calling your vendor waiting a new dongle is:
Format your HDD.
Reinstall Multiman.
Try

If same results:

Format your HDD
Go back to OFW 3.55
Reinstall Rebug TB
Install Multiman
Try

They can only check like 1% of packages or some ridiculous low number like that and if they check yours they just see a usb stick and think nothing of it, hell most of my friends that are avid gamers have never heard of kmeaw, ******, trueblue or anything until i told them. If they do confiscate it you can just order it again (sucks though as you'll have to buy it again). So i dont think an old customs package handler will know. Also ive ordered painkillers from the UK to US still got them. BHAHAHAHAH! Just dont order like 10,000 dongles or 10,000 lbs of cocaine.

Ok, so there is a catalogue of over 2000 games for the PS3, maybe Sony should charge $4000 for a PS3 then (your logic is freakin awesome)
You are paying for one bit of hardware, nothing more.

Hardware I might add that will use stolen information that was created for FREE by PS3 devs.
Do you think they figured out things like dongle authentication, how to decrypt and encrypt everything etc.
No, they stole information then reworked it to hide what they did - a direct violation of the Linux open source licence that nearly all of the technology is built from for the PS3 (yep, even the Windows ports)

So it is for those reasons this will be worked on by devs to reverse it and make it FREE again.
Funny how no-one complained when PSgroove was released for FREE when the dongle was priced at $100 (oh, and you got access to thousands of fr33 g4m3z then) <end rant>

No offense m8 but do you have an alternative? It's not like the scene devs are making it their mission to make 3.6x/3.7x games compatible on 3.55. So until there's another solution the TB dongle is as good as we're gonna get. Quite frankly I don't care what it works out too. I dropped around $74 today including shipping on the dongle. Why? Because I wanna enjoy new games on my hacked PS3. I don't have the skills to solder a mod chip on my board to go back to OFW. Plus I bought this PS3 with one goal in mind, to hack it. Therefore I won't go back to OFW. So therefore I dropped that cash because I wanted to play new games.

Hell being able to play Bleach on my console is worth it on it's own in my opinion. I've been waiting to play that game for ages.

So unless you have someone in mind that is creating an alternative method, this is our only choice. NO ONE AND I MEAN NOONE in this scene really gives a damn about this scene. the scene devs are too worried about famewhoring, and crying about warez mongrels. So unless we buy hardware from a dongle manufacturer, there's no other choice.

People can hate on this dongle all they want. I don't care. I bought it so I could play new games and not have to worry about some scene overlord outright telling me "Your a warez mongrel, etc, and therefore we don't care about you. If you use linux then we'll help you. Otherwise SOD OFF." This mentality is ripe in this scene. therefore I had to pay $60+ to basically say FU to that scene mentality and enjoy the games I wanna play on a GAMING CONSOLE.

Also the logic you speak of is irrelevant. I bought this dongle purely because I wanted a way to play the newest games on my console without having to worry about some damn scene overlord telling me that I don't have the right to play the games I wanna play on my console. Like I said if the scene devs would actually help this scene out instead of finding millions of different excuses just to stand on their moral high horse, people wouldn't have to pay for a dongle.

But you know what? I'm glad TB have decided to use code from the PS3devwiki and other places. Why? because it gave the scene overlords a reason to actually help this scene. If it takes stealing GPL code just to get the scene overlords to do something for a damn change instead of bitching about warez mongrels, antipiracy, etc, then mission accomplished in my book. So more power to this team. It's a shame that it had to resort to this just to light a fire under their ass though.

4gb+ wont currently work unless installed on internal, yeah but im sure if you extract the psarcs itll work on external (too bad not all 4gb+ files are psarcs).

A small fact, I do have info, but it is not mine to share. Thats not a "ner ner" it's pure fact.
They never stole code for this, they used techniques & tools developed by the devs (that are released freely) and then masked their own crap in it.
For the final time, I don't give a fuck if you want to pay $500 for it. I own 1 (count it) game and it gets used to test PS3's when the drive is remarried to it.

TBH m8 who cares about piracy? I'm sorry but I'm tired of people using the piracy arguement. This is a game console after all and if the devs don't wanna help people run legitimate backups (there's alot of people who buy their games and use backups) then you can't sit there and be pissed off that those same users wanna buy a device that gives them that ability.

Hell I know quite a few people such as Digital-Spooker, Sabin, etc, who have a lot of 3.6x/3.7x games still in the packaging waiting to be played. They can't play their games because they don't have a CFW that has that support. Well now they have a dongle. So even if you hate piracy, it's irrelevant. the fact is there's a lot of people who own their games and just want a method to play them. If the scene devs would stop famewhoring and getting on their moral high horse, maybe companies like True Blue wouldn't exist.

So to sum it up. Who cares if people are supporting a company that enables piracy? Piracy is gonna exist no matter what. So getting all pissed off isn't gonna change that. If the devs who are so pissed off at this company would release the stuff they have instead of dangeling it on a stick, maybe these piracy companies wouldn't exist. So basically, oh well. TB wouldn't exist if the scene devs didn't decide to get on their moral high horse. So I have absolutely no pity, sympathy, etc for these devs crying about their work. All I have to say is "boo hoo cry me a river, build a bridge, and get the fuck over it."

Again this post isn't direct specifically at you. It's just in general. But you seem to be getting a bit riled up over this dongle so I feel I must speak on behalf of the end users.


Not as easy as you make it sound. Some devs are or have been willing to help at one point as long as it doesn't benefit warez mongrels in any way. The second something could be used for piracy, and you will receive no help from them. The elite circle gets all they need to play homebrew and pirated games , be it tools or information and sometimes it is from Sony. When someone asks for help in hacking, they tell them do it yourself. They keep the tools and info they were given to hack and think everyone else shouldn't have them. So if someone does try to go about starting from zero, they get nothing but heckling from the elite circle. Case in point, Team PS360. They may have the skills needed to open the ps3, but they do not have the tools, information, or experience. And because they are a bunch of warez mongrelz, they will receive no help from the elite circle. Then the elite circle teases the scene and Team PS360 trying to show off their leet hacking skills dangling the tools and info just out of reach. Chances are, if PS360 does come up with something, the elite circle will start a shit storm.

If one wants to start hacking, he needs to be an asshole to others, or else he will never get the tools and info he needs unless someone leaks them. If one wants to even begin to learn to code for ps3, he is told by the learned scene elites to go F**k himself (yep just makes a man just want to learn being told to go F88k himself for even trying). For all their talks of opening the Ps3, I'm beginning to think they are trying their damnest to keep the ps3 as closed as possible. I also don't quite know why they seem to hate video games because they do all they can to hinder their playability and they talk down to gamers. I understand they like otheros and linux, I use Ubuntu, but I have a computer for that. It's pretty ironic to hate gamers that want to play games on their gaming machine. While the community for computers are really understanding and try to help users of all skill types, the elite circle, just wants to boast and feel powerful and stifle all information because if everybody was leet, then nobody is leet and the elite would lose their god status.

And if I had to choose whether to buy a product with cash and pretty much guaranteed to get it or kiss ass and beg over and over in the hopes that some elite dev would throw a scrap of information my way (a scrap that he had gotten quite freely from the inside might I add) and swear my life to a servitude to a lone computer geek and even then still not be guaranteed anything except a brown nose, I would rather cough up the dough. In people skills, the pirates are far ahead. The 360 scene is entirely like that, no drama, no bullshit, just releases. They've matured enough to not start a war over some guy downloading a game and don't white knight about it. The wii scene is divided in two. The first half is similar to the ps3 scene except they tend to try to help you, unfortunately they are afraid of looking like pirates, so they try their best to attack them, the other half is like the 360 scene in that they don't ask questions about piracy or don't care. Both sides advance that scene. Here, only the pirates are doing anything. And commercial pirates at that. The anti-pirates have left the scene alone for too long without advancement and the pirates have taken the torch, the elite are trying all they can to stifle the scene. If they truly wanted the scene to advance, they could helped it in many ways, yet they do not desire to help anyone. They desire to be gods of the ps3. Their desire for power and fame is no better than the pirates desire for money or free things, no matter how they crusade. And as long as they are asses to others it will be hard for them to prove otherwise.


I figure we'll see more commercial products until the PS4 comes out and the scene gets good enough to do what the elites won't do.

Just to let you know TeamPS360 has already received a DMCA. They got that because some asshat decided to report them. I'm gonna wager a guess and say it was one of oh so amazing scene devs that people praise.

Yes I have a TB dongle. No problems with HD and transferring. Everything works fine and I updated through the XMB with a usb drive when I got the dongle. Tested most of the games too and it works as it should.

I tried every solution you proposed, but is not working.
Everytime multiman says that the BDEMU.bin is wrong or the firmware is unsupported.
One thing i noticed is that in the beginning when the key was working the system said Unknown USB device connected,
but now it doesn't say that neither.

Don't. I'm still studying the problem. Good news, i changed the usb port of my fat, moving the TB from 1st port to the right to the 1st port on the left, and external on 3rd, and a 8gb usb on 2nd. Skyrim transferred succesfully , but didn't load. I used EUR version, with the USA TB release, sadly doens't work.

Some models doesn`t allow updating from 3.55 on 3.55 kmeaw through xmb so you need to use recovery mode. I`ve encountered that problem with 40 gb models and some of the early 80 gb, so far none of 120-320 gb didn`t have that problem.

I have a slim ps3 with CFW Kemaw 3.55, and I am using Multiman to run games from HDD, I have some questions about TB and I was hoping someone can help me.

1- Will I still be able to run my old HDD games with Multiman on the new True Blue CFW?
2- Will I be able to run original games that require 3.6+ from the original BD using the TB?

i done install trueblue CFW 3.55 >updated dongle to v2.2 to be on safe side . as before i had problems as i never installed the TB CFW 3.55 as mis read the instructions . not had ne problems in playin ne games yet .i got the dongle upater from library section on ere.

And , not enough, sometimes is who deliver it to you who broke it. Maybe a couple of kick, or falled 4 5 times. It's a bunch of young idiots, sometimes, who work on those places with billion of boxes. I received from my parents a box with an extremely expensive HDD, arrived here semi broken, mechanic unstable.

The mere fact that it initially worked and then failed would indicate that it could not be a scam (if it was a scam it would never have worked at all).
All electronic components have a MTBF (mean time between failure) however typically there is always a higher rate of failure in the early life of an electronic components expected life cycle, especially if components are not properly stress tested, as well as at its end - its called the reliability bathtub curve (based on the graph of failures over time - the shape of the graph is bathtub shaped with peaks early and late in the lifecycle)

1. Choose what you like best. Rebug has more addons though like fake save. TB CFW is a normal/standard Kmeaw
2. Yes, and if you have a different version of the release just replace eboot and edit param.sfo for your version<---- if you are confused ask again I will tell you how.

Bazinga! First post and all that...

Just a quick note of my experiences as, having read through this entire topic over the last two weeks (since I preordered my TB from Lightake) I have seen several questions I was interested in posed and answered, and had a few of my own that I answered today for myself. Hopefully those answers can also help someone else...

1) Lightake took a week to ship my TB dongle despite it being a preorder, but once it hit the post (I went with EMS) it only took 5 days to arrive and I tracked it all the way here

2) Installing the TB 3.55 CFW over KMEAW was a breeze, no issues whatsoever. Just follow the included instructions.

3) The TB CFW doesn't remove anything that was already installed, like PSN games or backgrounds/themes (the PSN games worried me, not anymore!)

4) Updating the dongle was simple enough. Pop the .pkg on a USB stick and stick-it-in (but no dongle yet!) You'll find the package in the "Install Package Files" option; run it and follow the prompt on screen. Restart your PS3 when done.

5) Power on with the dongle in and all works as it should: 3.66+ games from internal and external; PSN games; existing 3.55 game backups (int & ext).

6) Original discs for my pre-3.55 backups wont work with the TB dongle inserted, so power off and reboot without it.

7) Finally, I have a Slim PS3 so a dearth of USB ports. Fortunately I have a compatible hub so I have my external HDD and the PlayTV in there and they work fine.

8) The dongle does have an LED on the end (at least mine does!) during update it was red, in normal use it is a very dim green.

9) The TB dongle works fine through my hub as well!

Best of luck to anyone else who is taking the plunge with this. I'm glad I did and am now enjoying Portal 2 on 3.55! Just need White Knight Chronicles 2 now...

6) I haven't tested the originals for my backups yet but from what I understand they wont work with the TB dongle inserted, so power off and reboot without it.

as far as I know you need the dongle to play all existing backups (blackscreen only pkg, split file internal only)

I was referring to the original discs (and have edited appropriately), but am good and ready to be corrected if I'm wrong!

But apart from that, all is gravy.

Edit: For completions sake I have tested with an original pre-3.56 game and it loops back to dash with the dongle in, but works fine with it removed. I would guess that anything after 3.55 wont work as an original whether with or without the dongle as they need patched files and/or a higher firmware. Thanks for the kick in the pants Bubba, I shouldn't post with my hands full of controller whilst playing Portal 2. I switched it off so I could test and also so I could go to bed. Great game, very funny, and the puzzles are decent too!
