Thanks for Nicolas19's thread in PS3hax.I upgrade my JBK to V2.51 successfully following Nicolas19's thread steps by steps.To help more players,I downloaded and tested all the 9 games. All 9 games worked well with this v2.51 upgrade,no HDD released problems again.

Due to a Problems number of users ,I decided to write this tutorial.
Interestingly and importantly, being true 2.51 updates released by the makers of JB-King, which some people mistakenly think this update is only supported 2 Game Ace Combat Assault Horizon And Batman Arkham City
But really JB-king team in this update has solved the problem formatting the hard drive and re-format console when using the dongle JB-king due to previous virus remains hard when the console is in the The following training can help to solve this problem easily.

Stages of training:

First install firmware 3.55 on PS3. (Note that to install OFW 3.55)

After formatting the hard to Low Level Format, put it in your PS3 And Install CFW V2 on your PS3.

Anyway, i'm curious why we need do low-level format. Yes, i have readed, but is this app really made low-level format? If this is even possible on modern HDD by not a service tools, it's not a good idea - as i know LLF affect SA of HDD... For me sounds ridiculous.

IMO better idea is just made copy of trp/sav/cfg, doing just an ordinary full format and using JBK as any other TB dongle.

Do you understand how a file-system works - and that any type of format is going to be MORE than enough to nuke any chance TB has of addressing any of the old data.

In case when whole fs is encrypted i don't see any difference between quick format, full format or low-level format made on PC side. Even if TB mark some magical sectors in some magical place on HDD, it will be overwrite after making new tables on PS3, no matter what method are you used to format HDD. For any OS PS3 HDD are just bunch of random shit data, and when you do something with tables, for PS3 it will also be unknown data forcing to quick format and make new fs etc.

Okay so let me get this straight. In order to use the 2.51 update that (supposedly) prevents the hard drive from being wiped, you have to wipe the hard drive? And what accomplish what? If you go back to playing the booby trapped eboots that would have caused the wipes, are they going to say "Oh snap, you done foiled my plan. Curse you."? Or is it more likely that this will do nothing and those same eboots will still wipe your hard drive? The 2.51 update seems inadequate if in order to use it right, you have to bring about the very thing it was created to prevent. At the very least I would have at least waited until the hdd was wiped before I worried about wiping it again. There could be a chance it wouldn't happen, but this way, it definitely does. An even better idea would be to make a complete backup with ddrescue and recover with that than to start over so I don't have to start over.

Oh ye, i know what LLF is. You, spreading potential damages, is the one with any barely idea of what are you talking about. LLF is not something you can do daily to your HDD, but surely it's not something will destroy your HDD :rolleyes:

LLF is not just an ordinary longest erasable procedure. This change sectors mapping in service area of HDD which could end tragically. Also i don't know if this is really possible on modern HDDs, because they controllers could just block any of these functions requests. When S.M.A.R.T tell me that my HDD turn into piece of junk i'll try this, until then i'll not even try LLF because i really appreciate my data on it ;) and money don't grow on a tree (especially after Thailand floods which boost up HDD prices by 200-300%).

Anyway, i have not TB or JBK so this problem don't affect me and i cannot make any tests. But for me it looks like just a FUD. You gave me the link to first post of this topic, one user with unknown to me nick, 18 posts, banned. Everything which i can google it is TB warnings, users panic, wall of questions, flame wars etc. I cannot find even one seriously report that new TB EBOOTs on TB or some clones of it trigger erasing HDD and/or trigger it on every time until when user don't do LLF in opposite to full/quick "high level" format. I'm an IT Specialist and i just need proof. I don't want saying i have right and this LLF stuff is 100% BS - every creature on this part of universe learning by they whole life ;] - and i could miss something because i.e lack of my knowledge.

So... If someone have JBK 2.51 and want help should:
1. make a copy of needed user data (saves, trophies, activation data etc. for all user), "registry" (for preserving ID's) etc.
2. do full format on PC (easiest way "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/<drive i.e sdb>", on Windows i like CCleaner and his wipe option (one passthrough))
3. play on new eboots on JBK 2.51

And this will be some kind of trustworthy test. ;]

If there's a way that launched EBOOTs on cloned TB dongles trigger quick formatting of HDD and second condition: if original TB 2.5 updater write some data somewhere on HDD to be checking - somewhere where will be not touched by PS3 fw. If both conditions is true, full/LLF will erase this data in this will make sense. Maybe i don't understand something but this sounds to me ridiculous and this is why i dispute needed of any HDD format, especially LLF.

Someone reported the wipe, format was useless till when (as you can read on the link) someone on HAX wrote about this method, and that guy (mentioning him and doing a copy paste of his method) tried succesfully.

Yes, but this is only one person, maybe few. None of them are trustworthy - which mean to me someone who are well known for scene/community, as i name them privately: i.e "scene lovers", "not one season developers". ;]
