Thought I`d make a start... If you don`t already have the most widely used/known CFW then get it here...
This is all over the internet but I thought it would give someone a safe place to get it from. If someone has already done this here then I apologise :)
MD5/SHA-1 has been confirmed by myself. Download the file checksum tool from CNET to double check checksums...
CHECKSUM TOOL: ... http://download.cnet.com/File-Checksum-Tool/3000-2248_4-75110491.html?tag=mncol;10
the MD5 should be: ... 2be5e87a22bf1e7f48e98fcabd38977b
the SHA-1 should be: ... f83444560221ffba4ed0e0689fbc2cf993dc64ec
Multiupload link: ... http://www.multiupload.com/O3Q500HLX9
Remember you CANNOT downgrade from 4.00+ with this
Place in thumb drive PS3/UPDATE folder - Install from recovery mode or from service mode/jig
If any links are dead please PM me!

you should add the SHA1 as a secondary means for double checking the pup.

I feel i owe you another thank you pikeytrog for with out this i would have had to worry about the quality of the CFW i was getting, I was force to switch from WutangRZA's excellent firmware because of a bad bd lens. so thanks for making this easy to find and worry free!!!

so.. I've got a 'slight' issue (see: god dammit) when I try to install this (via recovery menu) it tells me that 'no applicable update data was found. I've tried both USB slots, the USB stick is formatted to fat32.
Decided to upgrade from 3.41 to 3.55CFW, went to 3.55OFW, but it wont let me continue into CFW.. any help?
(ps. sorry for necro-ing the thread)

Mmm, can't you change the firmware via starting up the PS3 normally and updating it from there?
Bizarrely enough, I have never had that issue before when I swapped firmware versions before, so I don't know why you are experiencing that issue! :(

Even when I try by the XMB it says no applicable data found (which is why I went to recovery menu) oddly enough, if I put the 3.55OFW update file on my memory stick, I can reinstall it by the recovery menu, but not the KMEAW from this thread (or even bitsbubba's NFW)
Update: well.. it worked, after me drumming my fingers on the desk for about a half hour, then threatening to throw the PS3 against a wall.. it installed. happy joy time.

I have not had a problem updating to this firmware(Kmeaw 3.55) .it worked right away. I was on 3.41 for the longest time as well. then I finally took the leap into 3.55 cfw. It is really amazing. Multimanager is awesome.

Turns out it was a bad connector in my USB key, had the same issues trying to install apps (namely multiman) I resoldered the connector and it's right as rain now.

Multiman truly is amazing I was running Gaia on 3.41, and I was blown away by how amazing MM was. I honestly can say, I'd never go back to another manager.
