After having been stuck with Rogero since he has released the funky, XMB-corrupt version of his 4.30 firmware up to his last APP_HOME-based deanK installPKG-integrated firmware (4.40-1.03), I have finally made the jump to REBUG for real, after having installed their earlier firmwares for temporary experimental purposes, with their 4.41.2 LITE CFW and so far, so good.

Having said that though, being the cunt-faced moron that I am, I had to, uhm, do a few additional things, which are listed below:

- I replaced the REBUG coldboot logo with the OFW coldboot logo (thanks alienkid/acab for the coldboot files) - which was done via PUAD (PUP Unpacker and Decrypter).

- I spoofed the REBUG Toolbox application so that it would install in place of the Music Unlimited (Qriocity) XMB Entry and the DeanK installPKG application so that the application would install in place of the PlayStation Home application as RetroArch is already occupying the SingStar slot on my system, which would allow me to boot into the proxy version of multiMAN (a.k.a stealthMAN/proxyMAN) - that was done with the aid of the Homebrew Stealthing Utility - http://dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/threads/355203

As for multiMAN, I tried spoofing the June 2013 rerelease of multiMAN 04.40.00 so that it would install in PlayStation Home's place, but funnily enough, and I remember DeanK mentioning this, it, uhm, magically morphed itself back into multiMAN LMAO!

Anyway, is there anyone else who has went from Rogero to REBUG and if so, what are your thoughts?

PS: Since when did PS3 CFWs had Runner Vision? I launched multiman and when trying to launch a game from disc it boots back to the ps3's xmb. I'm able to backup games but launching the game from the HDD or from disc within multiman puts me back at the original ps3 xmb... Anyway Rebug 4.41 has brick-walled me and won't boot into menu nor has QA flag so I cant in any way recover to previous firmware.

My Progskeet is connected and I have a backup of otheros 3.55 NORBIN which I am trying to put on now to see if I can get it back to the older firmware.

Basically I will need to be careful and find RSOD compatible firmwares since those that are not WONT boot into XMB without RSOD.

If anyone has suggestions please let me know.

I have a PS3 coming in the mail that should have a OFW of 3.55 and I'm wondering if I should go with the Rex or the lite.

What are the benifits of going with lite? What are the benifits of going with the rex. It is my understanding that I can switch between cex and dex on the fly with the rex version. What options can you only get with dex? What are the draw backs? Is dex the only way to turn off HDCP? Installs like the one for Multiman claim the install is for cex does that mean it can't be installed in dex mode? If you go to cex mode to install multiman can you then use multiman while in dex mode?

If I choose to go with rex then how do you go about spoofing to the newest firmware?

I got a few questions before I update my PS3.
I am currently on 3.41 OFW with USB dongle(Hermes v4) on a PS3 Slim(CECH-2104A) and I want to update to latest Rebug 4.30.2 REX, but I am a bit worried about bricking my PS3.

I have currently installed the "PS3 Button Layout Changer" from Rogero, and I am wondering if this could cause a brick if I update to Rebug, since the button changer edits something in flash?

I am also wondering if I am updating with the right steps:
1. Make a NOR backup from multiMAN
2. Update to 3.55.4 REX from XMB
3. Enable QA flag
4. Update to 4.30.2 REX from XMB

And I don't need to backup my HDD, right?

And I am sorry if these questions has been answered before on this forum.

Hey guys, My Rebug 4.30 PS3 was working fine until problems like slow down and crashes kept occuring so I downgraded, restored and formatted it in hopes that the problems stop. Well, they stopped but now NO backup will work. I don't know whats going on but I've been plugging away at this for weeks and I can't seem to figure it out. I'm currently on Rebug 4.30.2 REX. But over the last couple weeks, I've tried 3.55, 4.21, 4.30 and 4.41 CFWs for Rebug AND Rogero. I can't get ANY of my backups to run as long as I'm on CEX. NONE.
So that means I can't any game to run as long as I use Rogero since theres no DEX for that. If I use Rebug, nothing works in CEX mode but if I switch the "Target Type" *ONLY* to DEX in the Rebug toolbox, I can get some of my backups to work, but nothing past 4.21 even if I use Rebug 4.30. I've downgraded back to 3.55 multiple times to restore and format, upgraded to some new CFW version but the same thing happens. I also, uninstalled and re-installed Multiman many times because I read it's advised to do so after changing firmware. BTW, I've switched between Multiman 4.30 and 4.40. Makes no difference....and yes, the BD Emulator is also enabled in Multiman settings
Is there a PKG file I'm missing or is there something wrong with this PS3 (Fat model with a non existent Blu ray drive)? Is there something I'm not doing while I'm on firmware 3.55? QA is enabled for sure. otherwise, I wouldn't be so freely able to switch firmware as I have.
