Googled the appropriate usage of thermal paste just to be on the safe side, cleaned the hell out of the cell and rsx with their respective heatsinks. It is better now. It takes 10 minutes of idling before it sounds like a jet engine. Fucking shitty design.

The heatsinks had virtually no dust on them. And I can understand why since the system has maybe 60 hours game play on it since I bought it 2 years ago. The original thermal paste looked like hell. OK Corrected that with some fresh Arctic Silver 5. At least the system works, but it's incredibly annoying trying to listen to the game over the whirring sound.

I seriously need your help. I've been playing some games on my PS3 , and my brother wanted to play, so I exit my game , but it has some weird issue - when I close this game ps3 beeps 3 times and reboots. It hasn't been an issue , and after reboot it didn't ask for filesystem repair. So my brother logged in , booted into XMB and then weird things appeared on the screen , some random black & white squares lined vertically , but the background stayed as it was in XMB theme. So it froze in that state, and I turned if off by pressing POWER button for 10+ sec. Now it won't boot up - it freezes on the black screen , and when I push the power button once it doesn't make a beep sound, i actually have to press it for 10+sec to turn my system off. The weird squares looked sth like this ( not exactly , but you get the idea ):

I guess it might be PS3 graphics card , but I'd like to ask you guys what do you think, and how can I actually check if that's the actual problem. Also, if I wanted to repair it , how much would it cost roughly?
If you need more information, feel free to ask, also sorry for any mistakes, english isn't my mother tongue.
