Yep, After you have mapped and saved your key mappings, DOSBOX will activate them as soon as you switch to joystick mode (R3).

i figured it had to be a problem with my ps3, thanks pete. i updated the main post with this version and included the source, this will be my last version (unless there's a bug that needs to be fixed). anyone with a little .net knowledge feel free to continue it.

since R3 is used to switch between joystick mode, i think that may be causing a conflict
