PIC Port released of Cobra USB Dongle

That did not take long, shortly after the dongle dumps made by JaicraB and by Hansi, we have a PIC open-source clone of the Cobra USB dongle released by Noltari!

    Here‘s my compilation for PSGrooPIC.

I haven’t tested it because my PS3 is on FW 3.66 (online FTW).
Remember that according to Cobra you must be on 3.41 official and you mustn’t remove the dongle.
Now we just need a port for the ones using Atmel based dongles! But owners of the PIC dongles have confirmed that Noltari port is infact working!

Well before anybody gets there hopes up it doesnt work. Atleast on my pic. All it does is black screen and it does nothing.

I will say this though, i wasnt sure if he had a picdem bootloader version. The one i used took to the pic without any probs but it didnt say picdem it said "wBTL_MCHP". The others were "nBTL"(no bootloader obviously), and "wBTL_HID" (HID bootloader obviously). So if the other was NOT picdem then that might be why it didnt take. Maybe somebody else can try.

Weird as there is confirmed reports of it working on psx-scene. I need to replace the HDD on my PS3 so I can test it.

Thanks for the heads up gary, will be eagerly awaiting a Minimus hex for this from somewhere as I'm still on 3.41 w/dongle myself. Never saw the need to upgrade myself as all the home brew and games I play work just fine on that firmware.

I'm not gonna hold my breath for a Rockbox port, I presume by the time that's made, 3.55 will be able to use it!

If I had a clue at how to port it, I'd be willing to try it but sadly I don't!

Great news all the same, can't wait for confirmation (saw the psx-scene thread, but must have missed confirmations) and more progress.

The problem now it seems is the Cobra USB Manager the software they bundled in with the dongle has some extra checks in it. -- So even tho it might be working as-is as regular v3.41 dongle, it DOES NOT run the special bundled cobra software.

How did you get the ps3 to boot with the dongle?? All it gave me was a black screen.

It seems you have to remove it very quickly from the usb port just after the PS3 turns on before it fully boots-up, otherwise it sits there on a 'black screen'.

I just been reading what others say, I personally have not been able to test it.

And even when I can, my tests will not be perfect as I own a TEST machine so they don't work with the current 'payload' offset's address'es.
