That's not bad at all--for the dongle I mean as long as you can make your own copies and don't have to buy from them.....

Thing is... like I said above; if this dongle allows you to play 3.7+ titles on 3.55, then surely that means decryption of 3.7.. and thus should be possible from HDD, not just burned BD-R media.
Imho they emulating a patched bd-firmware inside the dongle, i bet reversing the dongle can actually lead to a ps3 bd flashing -> xboxstyle...but for this u need access the hw via usb, this is why he dont work on 3.56+ since sony patched this hole after 3.41.
1 coincidence is a coincidence, 2 coincidence are a proof.... he work only on 3.55, he comed out after Cobra...for me is just something messing whit bd firmware

I read a post that the BD was copy-protected. Not sure about that though.

Gary, what the heck? o.o! There you folks, gary's seal of approval has been stamped!
So the dongle will be some sort of '' a la xbox 360 dvd hack '' meaning hacking/emulating/flash the bd-drive or some sort?
Thus the dongle will resort into burning BD disc instead of external HDD/HDD or some sort just like around 2009 (xbox 360scene).
(correct me if I'm wrong). Wow. great news!!

I will believe it when I see it. to play these games you need the keys, if the dongle provides the keys then they are extractable.
I just dont see why it has to be run from the BD, I will wait and see what the results of the test sample are.

If it does turn out to be that they have managed to find the keys then how easy/hard is it for Sony to fix it.
I can remember at the time of the initial JB it was claimed Sony couldn't fix the hack and that the PS3 had been blown open yet they closed the door on the very next firmware update.
Must admit im as excited as a dog with 2 d*cks at this news.

Wanna bet 100$ he isnt a key's related exploit?
Aniway proofs are on video, he's legit, pointless argue about that

Why does the disc have to be a burnt BR ?
Is it because the actual original disc will contain the updated firmware on it ? So when you burn, you don't burn it with the PS3_UPDATE folder....?

Or it's because they make more money selling BDs than copying games via HDDs.

I called it. I'm glad. The 2 icons (app_home and install packages) under the games thread during game play sold it for me. I don't think anyway can manage that on a higher firmware as of now. Prepping for FIFA 12 then, FIFA 11 was getting boring. Yeah and of course UNCHARTED since I got an obsession for THAT.
