NEWS UPDATE: January 7th, 2011 -- 'True Blue' releases v2 of their CFW to support more future upgrades & downgrading!
The developers behind 'True Blue' have released v2 of their 'custom firmware' that allows for more upgrades in the future, and official support for downgraded PS3 Consoles!
For more information and links to firmware updates please check out our 'True Blue' F.A.Q.
Great News. Is it an upgrade of the old CFW we MUST use, or just for downgraded consoles? Normal users can skip it?
Yeah, it's me Dj Barth "One TrueBlue to rule them all, One Browser to find them,
One TB CFW to bring them all and in the Internal HDD bind them
In the Land of BarthMordor where Modding lie"
Yep. That's the part made me wonder. Maybe is needed for 2.5+ updates.

So maybe we do need it?
well apparently you havent downloaded it yet. Because in the download library it specifically reads:
We recommend that all True Blue users update their PS3 to this CFW as soon as possible, as support for V1 CFW will be depreciated with the upcoming True Blue dongle firmware update.

I'm sure they beefed up security, but how can they completely change CFW encryption/protection, does it modify the dongles memory to use a different decrypter or something?

On topic: Good to see you guys getting some love
Hope you get the EBOOTs you crave soon
for me it's not "THE eboots I crave"... it's more about continued, consistent, timely ... support I deserve as a paying customer. Flame away.. but yea.. i think paying customers derserve this..
Just installed it. In XMB update screen it says firmware v3.55-TrueBlue-DG (DG i assume means downgrade), then after install the system info is like before e.g; Version 3.55-True Blue v2.4, w/o dongle v3.55.
EDIT: Just to confirm it works, loaded Dead Rising 2: Off the record, Bodycount, and just released PSN Splinter cell HD
