Could be. Or the fSelfs aren't encrypted at all besides of course the encryption on the master disc itself. Once you un-encrypt that the Fselfs are automatically done with it. :P.

I'm kinda worried. Still no updates from Gary? I'm almost buying the dongle for $60 from a malasyan guy.

Gary said about 20 pages or so back that he will update tonight sometime or in the next day or so.(I originally put Monday but I forgot that he said that last week :P. It's a new week.) He's a busy man. Just because he hasn't done an update yet doesn't mean it's fake. It simply means he's busy. He vouched for it's legitimacy so it is real. But again he is a very busy man. So give him time.

hahaha yeah, I received my first ever internet infraction because this guy over at psxscene who suddenly is on all these sites (luckily not this one) literally replies to every post in the dongle thread over there with how no one else will ever get the dongle or figure it out Indonesians are superior to everyone else etc.
I try and post useful helpful stuff like I do over here and he keeps badmouthing it and everyone else calling me SDK clown or SDK genius (sarcasm obviously) then he said i hated him and i said i dont hate you you're just annoying and i got a infraction hahahahah! oh well news seems to hit here and is more tech savvy than over there. I still like psx scene its just too many newbies, trolls and people that think they know everything without providing any proof. Oh well and there's my rant HAHAHAHHA!
Anyway back on topic anyone going to compile that masterdisc algorithm i havent done C++ in forever, it seems (according to ps3 dev wiki) with it compiled linking to the key we'll get our fself to reencrypt with make_self for 3.55!

According to the PS3devwiki (SC EEPROM) there is an eeprom offset with a description "fself control flag". Some of the other flags have been changed (QA Flag, enable 8th SPU) what happens when offset 0x48C06 is "enabled"
I prefer a differential diagnosis approach, bouncing ideas off one another until we come up with a definitive answer (think House MD bahaha) of course emotions get high but as long as we remember the task at hand the emotions might even help to see something in a different way.
If you already know the answer just tell us, I for one will think you're "way cooler" than acting like you know the answer and keeping it from everyone. The "hacking" community is founded off curiosity and sharing knowledge, people seem to forget that.

About the bricking part - it doesn't brick your machine with NPDRM or to even play the games. That makes no sense to begin with. If it bricks your machine how would you then play games with the dongle? They are saying it requires their dongle, and CFW and if you don't use that combination it COULD brick your machine. That's probably a security feature to make sure that you use what they provide. Or it could very well be an idle threat.
It's definitely not a waste of time though. I have no idea how you came to that assumption but you might wanna read some more. Gary vouched for it and it allows you to play new games. that's hardly a waste of time. All we need to do is wait for it to be reverse engineered and either put on our dongles or a CFW. Either way it will help the scene. So again it's the direct opposite of a waste of time.
As I read it, once you install their CFW, you're stuck on it; you can't go back to OFW3.55 or KMEAW or whatever without bricking. Or did I misread that part? (There's a disclaimer in the update.pkg. Yes I snooped around with pkg extractor and a hex editor.) Add to that, these are dirty pirates (not to be confused with 'clean' pirates, like me, who don't feel that bad about downloading a game you weren't going to buy anyway) who are actually selling pirated copies of games. When I said/say "Waste of time", I was/am talking about this group itself, not any possible advancements that may come from this. They may very well be brilliant, but they are still douchebags. So what if they "deliver the goods"? I'm morally opposed to people selling backups. Makes my skin crawl, actually, because *that* is exactly what the big corporate assholes lobby the government with, so they can whittle away our personal freedoms even more. Gary confirmed that this JB2 does in fact exist, nothing more. We cool?

I wouldn't go so far as to say this is brilliant just lucky. I knew about debug eboots since the beginning of this year even used a few like Crysis 2 (pretty useless back then and debug eboots can be glitchy as they are just that "works in progress") then 3.60 came out. I say they're lucky because A.) They somehow got access to the sony dev network (which requires authentication from official sony devs/third party game developers) via insider or just straight out hacked it. B.) Live in an area where piracy, begging, panhandling etc is a way of life and not frowned upon.
I or basically anybody else could of done this if we had sony dev access, difference is i wouldnt of released a dongle and tried to make money off of it.
