Well I think Cyberskunk said that if you mess with the COREOS files TB gets angry, so if there's a problem in there the TB guys might have to fix it as Im sure most of that COREOS stuff is encrypted to high hell.
Hmm, well then someone else may have to make some "unofficial" patches. But what REBUG should do is fix any bugs in their version of the FW and just send them back over to TB. That way it helps out the TB crew and at the same time REBUG users can be happy knowing they have a good CFW.
Likewise their CFW can only be encrypted as far as the PS3 can handle. So it can't be encrypted with outside stuff unless the patches are embedded in the TB dongle firmware.

@Ridiculuz, I don't think anything official has been stated but from my understanding, you cannot run games disc-less (so no go for those without functioning drives), and the bd mirror function in MM does not work so all you black screen games will not work. I haven't picked up on the apps/games issue but you may be right..
All things considered, it is all (very), early days and I'm sure they will be sorted eventually..
Lets not try and couch this as something else - everyone that buys one including myself will use it for piracy purposes to some degree. Some people may buy an original, rip it and use the TB eboot (so as to support the game dev) but there is no way they will do that with all the games in their collection.

Copying your own games to the harddrive is not piracy. I don't have any pirated copy of a PS3 game. I don't care if every single person in the world pirates them, I just haven't had a reason to. I'm interested in modding games and screwing with the console at least as much as playing. I have a few original ps2 games which I backed up . One because there was something wrong with the original disc, but copy played fine, others for modding the files. I have no interest in PSN/official firmware. Only here cause PC gaming sucks worse.

Yikes, I didn't think my previous post was so lengthy. I need an editor. I post so infrequently on here, and on PSX-SCENE (before new ownership turned it from the best ps3 scene site to a site equal to PS3NEWS), that when I do post, its wayyy to long.
As mentioned above, I shouldn't have said the True Blue dongle is purely for piracy. I know there are numerous users who have piles of 3.60+ game originals sitting on a shelf they are waiting to use. I shouldn't speculate to how many people actually are buying games, or just downloading them. I can't deny that when Modern Warfare 3 was released for PC, I downloaded it. I played a few hours in the campaign and loved it so much I went to the store and bought the game, and started it over.
The point of my "essay" was to tell people to slow down and have some patience. Its not as easy to reverse engineer as the original jailbreak dongle. But its not impossible. I wanted to try and lay out the technical details and security features of each item, in a way that people who couldn't understand why it is not reverse engineered yet could see that it's not easy. You don't just plug it into a usb port, click "Clone" and away ya go. I really hope if someone completely reverses the dongle, they release a detailed description on how they did it. I'm more curious on that that than actually getting the dongle.
It's a great point made that the Cobra dongle don't really compare to the True Blue Dongle. The Cobra Dongle adds a lot of useful, important features that many of us may not make use off, but others will. True Blue plain and simply lets you play new games. That's a MUCH bigger deal, identifiable by how many people follow and have viewed this thread.
Of course, I hope I was unequivocally wrong, someone tells me I'm completely wrong, and a modified firmware or hex files for various devices appear in the next few days. Although I'm not sure how much I would actually use it right now, I checked my Spam inbox a few minutes ago and noticed I was accepted into Diablo 3 Beta Testing. Game is downloading now and I will be distracted for way to long.

Everyone else, sorry if it comes across as me thinking this dongle is just for pirates. I don't really, I just know its the pirates that are bitching about it. People who genuinely want to backup their games generally dont mind paying less than the price of a full game to do so. Having said that, I dont HATE pirates either. Do you what you want, just dont cry when you dont get EVERYTHING handed to you on a silver platter held by a naked supermodel.

I just wanted to point out that the group that are constantly bitching about this price, I do not consider pirates, at least not true pirates. The 360 is a haven for pirates yet you never hear the constant bitching that you hear on this scene. Those are just leechers. If you see someone act like they are entitled then they are a leecher. True pirates do not feel entitled. And because of that they are a lot more thankful for what they do get and a lot more patient for what they don't have.
