I don`t think it is needed, in the payloader3 source files is firmware 3.55 listed and so I need to compile it first.
I`ll try to compile it for FW 3.55 but at first I make a little break.

so yesterday i bought few BD-RE under 2€ cause wanted 2 help testing this method & not 2 waste whole BD-R which costs here 1€ on games which fits on DVD-DL but now it looks like i did wrong

PS: after i red whole "illegal" battle about this, i can only repeat that not in every country backuping/burning/downloading games 4 personal use means piracy, but selling them is so gl JB2 team

Hmm...meh...making a digital copy of shit that I own, I'm cool with that. Easy to get rid of if the law says it's illegal. Making a hard copy of the shit that I own...meh, too much trouble and money. I rather spend the extra money on a new HDD. I'm sitting this one out. Hope you guys figure out what you are working on.

all of this seems so fishy just looks like they are trying to make fast cash , before someone reverses there dongle and "special disks"
how would we back up our own disks ?
will originals run with the dongle if not whats the point ?
also the ps3 lense is garbage anyway i wouldnt want to be throwing these cheap disks at it

also i'd be interested t know how uncharted 3 would fit on these disks , dual layer blue rays are needed the game is 43gb and they are not $4 each

So they are using "special disks" with "key" differences?? Sounds like they have found a BCA masterkey or something??

btw, if you don't know what BCA is, have a search through wiki. Nintendo uses it on wii, and it wouldn't surprise me if sony uses it as well.

Nintendo's Wii and Nintendo Gamecube have their own specialty format for copy protection. It is based on DVD/miniDVD (Game Cube) technology; each disc contains some deliberately placed defects. The exact positions of these defects, which differ for each produced disc, is encoded encrypted in the BCA of each disc. The BCA is readable on most standard DVD-ROM Drives, but consumer burners can reproduce neither the BCA nor the defects. As an additional obfuscation mechanism, the on-disc sector format is a little bit different from normal DVDs. Nevertheless, it can be read using some consumer DVD-ROM drives with a firmware modification or "debug mode".
    .....remember NSMB Wii???

But briefly there an area on a bd-r disc you can't not record to this area and is checked by the blu ray firmware on the ps3 and allows for the special eboots to decrypt maybe someone in the future will figure out a way to get around these problems but for now this solution works and is solid and not patchable by Sony.
So what ur saying is there is something implemented in the unwriteable sectors on these bd-r I'm sure fony won't look at them as been blank just because we can't write to those perticular sectors of the disk

Also if the rest of the disk is blank is this where we r supposed to write our games to I'm thinking if that's right then does this dongle make ps3 blu-ray see the "unwritten" sectors. As it does from original ps3 disk just my little thought on this what does others think!!!??

OK I maybe waaaay off here ... but my take on the Blanks are ... It may not be really important whats on them ... as to whats NOT on them .... everyone that has burned disks know that all disks have identifiers of one sort or another on the " unwriteable " sector .. this being production country etc ..... the more I dig into this the more this seems to be the case ... However this wouldn't explain the Dongle part

The special BD-R discs being SOLD are BLANK, they are not 'warez' in some cases less shady 'modshops' operating in countrys like Asia were local law enforcement turn a blind eye to 'flea market' operators they may infact FILL the disc with 'information' turning the blank disc into 'warez', but that is not fault of the 'True Blue' designers, and those places will NOT be official resellers. -- Information and pricing and list of 'official resellers' will be forcoming in new news post later this week once details are confirmed.

Second, there is alot more 'games' working then the 5 listed in the forums and emails from the original JB2 rumors, and the full list of all the tested games will be published once it is official and confirmed by us, don't trust other sources of information there alot of people out there trolling and passing around mis-information still for various reasons.

Third, even tho there is effort to 'crack' this dongle already even tho it is not in the actual hands of any of the people posting information about it, there is alot of stuff unknown about how and why it works and for many reasons we can't give further technical information but there is 'KEY' reason why you have to buy special BLANK BD-R discs, due to some background research on the Blu-Ray specs. and maybe you understand why this is only way to get your dreams filled on running the latest v3.60+ games on your PS3 correctly!
    WHAT "special" Blu-ray discs?

Is this a joke or something?

    Bah that sucks!

Regarding Gary's old saying, he's spot on about it alright!

Here is one thing I just was thinking about, now I might be totally wrong, but is direction worth look at, since all of these "blanks" are the same with "this" masterdisc id, I got to track down the actual format used on BD-R, but there is various possible places, the SID, the RID, the "ROMmark", I let you know if I figure out which one it is, it tough without seeing the "actual disc" in yours to look at, but I sure some people will be playing around with them shortly as they become available.

Anyhow back to my idea, since it all the same, it might be very possible to produce a new CFW that installs on your PS3 with more patchs in it they originally supplied, or a new type of 'backup manager' that looks at this 'masterdisc' in the drive, but then grabs the game data from the HDD, I thinking it might be very easy to improve on the original function so you need only the one disc in the blu-ray drive which does the 'unlocking' then your 'homebrew' launchs the FSELF's from the HDD

Just an idea, I am sure my idea, and many others will be attempting various forms of 'improvements' to this commerical project like what happen with the original PSJB, it shipped with a crappy 'backup manager' that did nothing much, even alot of games didn't work, and people quickly wrote new managers for it that improved on the original idea.

It is funny that before JB2 news appeared, everyone was just sitting around spinning around in their office chairs doing nothing, but waiting, then the moment someone produces something that works, they stop spinning around and get to work trying to figure out how they did it, whereas if those same people had stop spinning around their office chair long time ago, they might had already figured out how this dongle works before it even exists.

There is an old saying, a farmer tells his friends he wants to make a bunch of nice apple pies for everyone, everone will get one of them to eat, but tells them first we need to work together to plant the seeds in the field, then we need to water them everyday, then we need to havest the crops, then grind the grain, and crush the fruit, then bake the pies, and then we all sit down to big happy thanksgiving meal, and enjoy the fruits of our hard labour.

All his friends tell the farmer, fuck-off that is too much work, thanks but no thanks.

A few months go by, and his same friends walk into town and see this big brand-new bakery selling hot apple pies, so being hungry from the long walk into town, then go in to purchase a nice slice of apple pie to eat.

What do you know, it their old farmer friend standing their at the cash register, selling the pies, they all turn to him and say hey you my friend, just give me a slice for free, or ummmmm this tastes great what is your secret recipe so I can go home and bake one myself.

It tells them all basically fuck-off, saying you all were not around when I needed to plant the fields, not one of you was willing to share some water when my crops almost died from the dought earlier, no one came to help put out the fire that burned down my barn and killed my pigs, or came to help me rebuild it, even tho I all gave you a free pig last year for thanksgiving day, but here you are all tried and hungry and not even willing to pay a buck for slice of apple pie, that I had originally offered to you for free, if you just had help me out a bit, because we are all friends.

Oh'well some of you will get the "moral" behind the story, the others will just slap me in the face wth a large trout!
