    ps3 Another World v1.01 released

    French 'homebrew' PS3 developer Bobby6killer has released an updated version of his port of Another World for the Jailbreakable PS3 consoles!

    Another World (Out of This World) for PS3

    This project is based on the reverse engine made by Gregory Montoir, and reimplements the game Another World to be played on PS3.
    You need the original English DOS data files (in english, the game is known as "Out of This World").

    It is a reimplementation of the game Another World in PS3, with some additional features from the original game:
    • save / load the game on the fly with display of the status of "state game" via SDL_ttf
    • bypass protection of the wheel of the game
    • multiple fixes, including support for running on 64 bit architecture... Respect closely the PS3...
    Release 1.01 (2011/10/27)
    • change pad support
    • fix system crashes when leaving the game
    • fix crackling sound (sdcell version only)
    Controls:
    • Arrow keys => Allow you to move Lester
    • Cross => Allow you run/shoot with your gun
    • Select => allow to enter a code to jump at a specific level
    • Start => pause the game
    • Triangle => quit the game
    • R1 => save game state
    • L1 => load game state
    • R2/L2 => change game state slot
    FAQ:

    Where should i place the original game files ?

    Place them into /dev_hdd0/game/NEWRAW_00/USRDIR/data folder.

    What is sdcell version ?

    Current release comes with Robo Hobo's sdcell version for better sound experience.
    This library is an other unofficial port of libSDL to PS3.

    WOW, this is a gamers game right here. This bring back memories. I spent countless hrs on this game. Swinging the cage back and forth, trying to figure out what to do next and then perfecting that, OMG. I kept missing the gun you had to pick up, holy crap, good times man. This was a scary experience, one of the first games that I ever played that REALLY sucked you in to the game play. I think it's Out Of This World for SNES and I think it might be in the SEGA collection also, of course I was one of the fortunate ones that actually got to play this when it first came out YEARS ago. MAJOR PROPS for working on this game, MAJOR PROPS.

    This game is not for the faint at heart, if your a quitter, don't bother. If you want a challenge, you MUST try this game.

    It's kinda of a puzzle, adventure, trial and error, side-scroll, theatrical, art driven game.

    A truly excellent game for it's time.
