I'm happy if my suggestion help. I had the same experience long ago, during the rumor days, about portal 2. I realized later my fault was the copy process. Repeating it, fixed.

Hi, i got a problem with Armored Core 4, first i'm running trueblue cfw V2 with the 2.5 update, everything works fine with every game i've tried so far but with this one is just not working.
In thhis tread says that you got to wait 1-3 min of Black Screen and that the game also work discless (if i remember right) but with me is just an all the time black screen with a hard reset afterwards because the Ps3 just block itself.
So, the question is: anyone else with this problem or is just a bad rip?, i've been trying to download another but i can't find it anywhere, so far, so if you know of a Scene site with another release please, that also helps.

Note About "Internal": The game will appear to work fine at first, and may even issue an update notice or two, but as soon as the "FROM Software" logo finishes displaying, the game will go to a "black screen"; it must be run externally. Rename PS3_GAME\USRDIR\bin to PS3_GAME\USRDIR\bind (EUR version only) then with disc in let game black screen from 1-3 minutes then game will start
EDIT: Just tried it on TB CFW v2, 2.5 update externally with disc in (also mind the EUR note above) and it took 2 minutes 29 seconds of black screen to start. It will go to a screen that says "The HDD access indicator light will blink while data is being saved. Do not turn off the PS3 system while the light is blinking." and then you hit OK (Should work discless also but only with TB) also tried it discless took the exact same amount of time.
Now I remember I originally tested it kmeaw it would only work with disc ext, then I retested a bunch of 3.56 and lower games on TB (hence the very bottom of list where you saw armored core 4) and it was able to work discless. So your problem is either you have it on internal (external only) or you have the EUR version and havent renamed the bin to bind folder or both.

Silent Hill Downpour: External=Yes Discless=No MI=4267
i tried discless and got a blackscreen, then tried with disc and also got a black screen for about a minute before the data install started
so i retried again discless incase i hadnt waited long enough, still didnt seem to work discless unless you need to wait even longer for install to start

Discless method reinstall mandatory data every time, so need a BD.
Tested with Monkey_Island_Special_Edition_Collection_PS3-iCON (42x50) release, TB CFW v2, dongle v2.5
Street Fighter X Tekken
USA version works OK from external (using original PARAM.SFO).
Discless method works OK.
Tested with Street.Fighter.x.Tekken.PS3-dumpTruck (70x200) release, TB CFW v2, dongle v2.5

On silent hill was this PROTON release or.... also blades of time guess i missed that one
