In a surprize move, Sony has step up the plate and announce to everyone that big v4.0 will be released this week for all PS3 owners to prepare their systems which they don't own to allow proper access for up-coming PS-Vita launch in Japan!
A new system software update (v4.00) will be released this week. In preparation for the launch of PS Vita in Japan, this update will prepare the PS3 to serve as a content management device. It will allow users to copy their media content such as games, music, photos, and videos between PS Vita and PS3, back up PS Vita save data to your PS3 hard drive, and update the system software for your PS Vita system using the network features of your PS3.
Other changes to take effect with this update include:
PlayStation Plus members can now choose to enable or disable each automatic update feature
Game patches
System software
Recommended games and videos
Sync trophy information
New PSN privacy settings for filtering friend requests and messages
Of course after all this 'True Blue' releases and 'KaKaRaTo' tweets about a v3.73 Jailbreak, everyone already got their gears in their heads spinning out of control, wondering what other 'hidden' features or changes have been made, and even more amazing is 'legit' developers don't even have the v4.0 so far they are still playing around with v3.74 on their systems which didn't have any 'major' changes.
Since I acquired MY PS3 from another source other than a retail store, I declare that the hardware and anything contain within IS RIGHTFULLY MINE and is not owned by anyone else other than ME, so $ony you can suck it because I will do what I damn well please with MY hardware.
This battle has been won in the US court system with the case of George Hotz Vs. Apple, so legally this system and whatever else contained within IS MINE. Send your stupid lawyers or whomever you wish, I refuse to ever change my software configuration and re-render this hardware worthless again. I own it and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it.
After this, I feel I am about to join thousands of others and begin pirating the games that are made available to this system since you have pushed and bullied your consumers into these circumstances. If anything I have said here is incorrect, please correct me. But I know I am legally allowed to "jailbreak" my hardware and do with as I please.

The whole timing of this feels like a rushed out Sony patch, that will end up bricking thousands of machines over the next few weeks. Much like the issues people had when updating their hard drive, a few firmwares ago. Before the fix, if ya switched to a new hard drive, you were screwed. Needed the old drive for any chance of recovering your bricked system.
I would highly advise against installing this update. I have a second PS3 for online play but I will wait a few weeks before updating it. Like mentioned above, I have a horrible feeling this update was suppose to be releases in a month or longer. My other horrible feeling was that Sony discovered the method used by True Blue, and this update will stop any game released with 4.00 unusuable. Wouldn't be suprised if Sony panicked, found the workaround, and rushed out their 'major' patch early to block True Blue.
I sincerely hope I'm dead wrong, both about the possibility of bricking machines, and mainly the blocking of True Blue. I would feel terrible for True Blue owners and those who recently ordered the dongle. While you have an extended library, it would be severely disappointing for it to be stopped already. I'm looking foward to developers breaking this update apart and finding out what the update really does.
Version 4 takes away the ability to play retail games.
PS3 Slim w/ Rebug Rex 4.30.2, 500GB Internal, 1TB/3TB External; PS2 Fat McBoot w/ Hard Drive; Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
Last game finished: Crysis 3 | Currently Playing: Dead Space 3
He is being ironic. Sony always takes away some system funcionalities with is firmware "upgrades" (otherOS; PS2 games; game sharing;...) and some day Sony takes away the possibility of play games on his console :-)
