[Guide] OtherOS++ Nor (and hopefully NAND) installation guide
This post and the next will serve as a complete user guide for OtherOS++ once gitbrew.org has been restored so I can actually get all the information.
This guide will cover the following :
+ complete installation instructions of 1 or two distros.
+ How to install all of Graf's tools, and kernel.
+ How to install emulators
+ How to install AROS (Amiga research Operating system)
+ How to install PSl1ght(possibly.)
+ Any other suggestions that the community wants me to add.
+ NAND only section
+NOR only section
+ Available as text here in post form as well as in an easy to read PDF format.
+ Will include text and some pictures at first. I will expand this as I go along.
+ Will be updated as constantly as possible.
I only have a NOR based console so if anyone wants to help me with the NAND side please do so.
If you want to help me with the NAND only section I need you to meet the following requirements :
+ Have atleast decent linux experience. (meaning you know how to issue commands correctly, install packages, use CLI,) (Basically be a step above a brand new user.)
+ NAND PS3 (well duh :P)
+ Successfully installed the current implementation as of 6/5 6/6(and on) on a NAND PS3 and can reproduce ALL of the steps.
+ Be able to reproduce the troubleshooting steps you had to go through if any. (this will greatly help in the QA department when new comers ask questions.)
If you meet these requirements please contact me. You will receive FULL credit for all of your contributions as if you were the one who decided to make the guide in the first place. - I don't steal anyone's work.
You can either post here, or PM me if you wanna help with NAND units. I will start work on this as soon as gitbrew.org has returned to full service.
(Also if this is in the wrong section I apologize. But I don't see a section for tutorials that aren't approved by the staff. We need a tutorial section for regular members until they are approved and than they can be migrated over.)

http://deviant-generation.com/ - my site. Contact me, Korn, and gDrive. I'm the most active but they do come over to speak to me. Likewise it's always a place to send them a message when you need to. Plus you can meet my graphics team!

Cool,
I'll get back my nand ps3(60GB launch model) and get this steps done on it.
I need a working Keyboard. The one i have doesn't work when i have the petitboot installed.
I have to finish the installation using telnet. i'm fine with that though.
Did you say you are working on a NAND model? If so I don't think I can help troubleshoot for you.
Also sorry for not updating this topic. I'm not finished yet and I'm sick again. So it's gonna be delayed a bit. Hopefully I'll start work on it this weekend if everything goes well. This will be done though as I need to get the hang of the new HDD methods. So it will be done. So until I'm fully done with the actual install method (meaning the linux install not all the extras I plan on including) I can't offer any troubleshooting advice. In the meantime go to gitbrew's irc for tech support. That is your best option.

Ubuntu-Installer 10.04 Lucid
Always being worked on. But should do everything the manual install does plus more.
Instructions for NAND PS3's:
# wget --no-check-certificate http://bit.ly/ubuntu-installer
# tar --strip-components=1 -zxvf ubuntu-installer ( here is the trick, when you use the command above the PS3 download a file called "master" and you can rename it to ubuntu-installer or use the command tar --strip-components=1 -zxvf master) I used with "master" and it works
# sh ./ubuntu-installer.sh
And follow instructions.
NOTE: If you have already done the partitioning of drives from the previous wiki page, select 'y' then '2' when asked if
you have already paritioned the drives and asked how many. Otherwise just select 'n' .
Again all credits to gitbrew guys.
Installation still running..well i have enough beer to wait..
Cheers buddy. I plan on working on this hopefully this weekend after my college work is done. It's taken me this long because of medical problems. My doctor gave me some stuff which will help me in the short term until we can fix the long term. So I'll be able to start on this as soon as my college work is done for the week. .

Prea...Just to let you know that i'm now running Debian on my PHAT 60GB..GUI installed as well(GNOME).
I had ubuntu before but i'm having errors and i don't have the time to try to fix it(find a way to i mean ) not able to install GUI though.
I'll redo the steps next week, Starting Monday maybe. See what i can add here.
Nice dude. I'm glad. That means by the time you get your steps down, I'll be able to add mine in and we can publish it fully. I have yet to start working on this due to college. But I'm trying my damndest to get the work done and start on it in the new day or so. I'm taking Monday off before I start my next week, so I'll see what I can do.
I know it's taking awhile but I've been swamped. I haven't forgotten about the guide though!
Once I have a rough draft of my tutorial I'll PM you so we can compile it together, edit them to flow better, and than I'll PM you a "1.0 release" in both .PDF form and a readable form for the forum. Of course everything you do will be fully credited. ( I want to make sure I point this out.)
