    True Blue Not Booting

    Hi

I bought a v2.3 true blue dongle and followed the instructions to setup. I had it all working fine and 4 days ago I updated it and the cfw to 2.5.

Again everything was working fine after the update, but today when I tried to boot the ps3 the dongle just flashes red and never turns green to say it is working. After a few secs the system boots with the dongle still flashing red.

I have tried placing it in different usbs ports, removing discs and other plugged in devices, but i get the same result and cant load up any of the loaders etc.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the prob might be?

    thanks

Maybe try re-installing 2.5 and just make sure that you follow instructions
    see if that fixes anything

    Install TB CFW v2 http://www.ps3crunch.net/forum/downl...ee9427533d6dd5

and then if necessary (xmb info doesnt already read v2.5) install http://www.ps3crunch.net/forum/downl...2592fabdb805fc

Just remember not to be confused by people calling 2.5 "firmware". The actual firmware is TB CFW v1 and TB CFW v2 that installs on to PS3, the "updates" v2.1-v2.5 install on the dongle.

I suggest (re)installing the ACTUAL firmware TB CFW v2 then install the UPDATE v2.5, not just installing 2.5 because if you only have TB CFW v1, 2.5 wont work. (And system info wont tell you if you are on CFW v1 or CFW v2, you'll only know for sure after 2.5 installs sucessfully)

    Hi

I had the cfw v2 installed on the ps3 first. Once installed I updated the dongle to v2.5. Everything was fine for 5 days until today.

I have tried reinstalling the cfw v2 but once it boots I get the same prob - the dongle just blinking red. I can't update the dongle via the ps3 as it doesn't recognise it.

    Any ideas?

    Ok have an update

While I was away yesterday my friend removed the USB dongle while it was running on the ps3 ie in jailbreak mode.

The user guide mentions not to remove the USB during use so it looks like this could be the problem. Is there a way to update/reset the USB via a pc as I can't update/reset the firmware for it on the ps3 as it doesn't recognise it. I have tried booting with out the dongle then loading the update pkg file. When I insert the dongle when prompted it says can't communicate with dongle.

that is why it no longer works.... it probably thought someone was trying to tamper with it , and the DRM erased itself

    hit your friend next time

It's probably bricked send it back and lie and say it never worked, whoever you bought it from will probably believe you since a lot of them have been DOA lately or have your friend pay you for it.

What kind of friend is this? When my friends use my ps3 they know not to just go messing with shit. First off they have their own ps3's so they know how to use them, secondly I've told them all about JB/TB and it confuses them usually so they know not to f*ck with things on my ps3 that look foreign to them.

ALSO: Ive hard resetted my console, plug TB into pc basically done everything besides throw it against a wall and mine still works. But something similiar happened to me when i first got my dongle i tried direct boot with it on a game (before I knew what might happen) and it did the same thing yours did except the light just stayed red. I figured out it shorted the USB or something and the port began pulling less power, so from now i have to boot the PS3 with only the dongle in the usb port(s) nothing else and then after XMB boots up and dongle is dim green i plug in other usb stuff ex: controller, external hard drive etc dont know if that might help just a suggestion

EDIT: I mean really i can see him maybe unplugging a controller, but even if he thought it was just a usb stick why does he need to unplug it there's no reason, usb sticks dont effect the ps3 from playing (if he indeed thought it was just a usb stick)

Maybe your friend covertly works for Sony and has only been your friend this entire time to lead up to this moment in time to brick your dongle.

If he doesnt offer to pay you for it sleep with his girlfriend

After few too many beers one night.. I accidently removed the TB from my system while it was running. I thought it was off but it was actually at the "are you sure you want to power off" screen. Mine still works fine. So not sure that would be enough to suicide it. (is that a verb?)
