We found that the "Could not communicate with dongle" error could mean that your true blue is already updated.

After a while we found what made his dongle "green" and boot 3.55 cfw true blue 2.51.

It seems to be a power issue, booting into 720p instead of 1080p made the dongle work fine. And remove any game inside the PS3 before you boot. You can change this booting from recovery mode and resetting your settings.

So yeah, spread the word !
Erm.. Ok i'll leave this thread open to theories, why not. But let me..
I agree about power issue. Sometimes because of it, TB can fail to work properly. For example, happens to boot your ps3 with an external HDD, and TB is not working. Creepy, dongle bricked? Nah, restarting your console without any other usb connected fix. An USB power issue, i agree. But please, video resolution? *cough*

    Yeah, it's me

Hi, Im new to the forum but familiar with the PS3 scene.

Today I got my True Blue Dongle, I got this issue aswell, but doesnt work. no game in the console, no other usb devices connected. TB CFW v2 installed, boot ps3 with dongle results in no signal, TB dongle led staying red and steady. Reinstalled the OFW a few times via recovery menu and the TB CFW v2 aswell still same issue. Without the dongle it boots up without a problem. but with the TB dongle in it it doesnt even reach the XMB. Even formatted my HDD for it but still nothing, two different screens 1 42inch plasma tv and a 23inch multifunctional monitor same issue. Been at it for 4 hours but still nothing, even changed resolution to 572p and doesnt work.

So far I cant really say its a power issue.

So was this a real fix or not? I have the same problem.

I just got 2 true blue dongles from lightake. One of them works fine. I had no problem updating it and using it.

The other one will not update and I get the same error as the op.

If there is a fix for this, I would much rather do that. Then going through the hassle of shipping it back, and waiting for a new one to return.

This actually could be somewhat true, as my dongle is finicky with botting as well. It wont boot payload unless everything usb is unplugged first in hub then after its green plug in ext hd etc. So its either a true blue power issue or some weird protection kicking in perhaps idk
