it's pretty fun, I think the update fubaring the duplex psn release, means I'm going to have to redownload it (do not want), look for a fixed eboot, or perhaps a rap file...
or.. I'll just scoot across the street to the redbox and nab that lol
edit: or I'm just a retard, I totally forgot there was a fix .pkg for this game, which would mean doing the 1.02 update would have nuked that... TO THE INTERNETS!
edit 2: no joy... "no need to apply this update" and I have zero clue where the PSN update would be.. so.. I rage deleted far cry 3, and I'm going to redbox, at least then I wont have to deal with the crap of updates breaking a game.

Well, I think I had a similar problem with the EXEtrimALL release of FIFA12 as it blocked me from playing the game once I actually applied the game update - I think that's due to the limitations of the PSN-acquired releases as a whole and not due to that specific warez release.
Personally, if you can find a disc-based (warez) release for it, you'll be better off playing that said release due to that said limitation

I just hopped across the road and went to the redbox and snagged Far Cry 3 since I had a free 1-day rental anyway, I've aimed to cut back on how much I download since last month, I pushed the internet 100GB over our data cap, and deprived the house of internet for a good week, so my aim is to try and find redbox copies of things I want if possible and rip them that way so I don't bust the data limit again, and if there's left over data near the end of the month, I go nuts to push it to the limit lol.
I mostly prefer to get BLUS versions of games if I can, more for the sake of ease when I do get around to buying those games (so I don't lose a ton of save progress), and that way I can buy any DLC the game has easier

I can understand where you're coming from with regards to the game region versions, especially if, like you said, are planning to acquire DLC for it as you need a region-tied PSN account to buy content for games that match the region of your account (e.g. BLES-labelled games - EU PSN account et cetera) - as it would be too much hassle just to create several region-tied PSN accounts just to purchase DLC for such games.
