Agreed. I don't see why something similar to 360 DVD drive flashing, would be bad. But we know this is a bogus story. But if something like this were to ever happen on the PS3, I would be all for it.

still its monetized either way weather someone is making money from a dongle, which could be free
or a BR ODDE device its still monetization ,but in the case of ODDE hardware is essential, in tb case its not the hardware is there souly for the purpose of monetization

yes it is a sad state of affairs, well it is if there are really other devs out there, like a certain cheese eater and his cohorts(which claim to) or others who are for real, who know how to accomplish what tb team have and keep it secret for..... i dont really know what purpose
it goes against what people who call themselves hackers are supposed to be about , FREE information,
dont really begat tb if they are not claiming to be hackers, i dont know who they are, if they are just some people who set out for the purpse of profit ok fine, but if they were scene "hackers" who turned to make profit and abandon their principle,s(if they had any) a little different i guess

Yep, as i wrote few times, hardware is needed, and create it costs money, and need to be sold, etc etc. We are struck on this mechanism, due to new security layer.
As kakaroto worte, it's mathematically impossible to make a CFW 4.11. Meh.

Besides the fact this is probably bullshit, this would be a good way to go for pirates. Kinda reminds me of the 360 scene. Wish the ps3 scene was more like it. There's so many ways to go about moding. Personally, I don't mind paying for hardware if it adds features like homebrew and the like.
I has a spectacular aura about me.

Me too. But well, BD player cracked is quite fun to read. I truly wish Mark Webber was still here

ON a technical side, i could say it's not so impossible , but lacks of some principles.
BD drive emulation is done using a DEV ps3. Commercial ps3 can be turned to a DEV in nearly 30 minutes. So ye, it could work. Little problem: You need not just a dex firmware, but a dex eboot too. Where exactly you will find one?
What this product was trying to claim is to use a commercial ps3, a bd drive emulator with some hardware, and poof. Nah

My first thought it's a piece of junk but this will be solution not only for pirates but also for people with dead lasers and of course people which don't want use their PS3BD-ROM afraid of scratches.

Yeah, it will not launch any homebrew (until we don't know how to properly sign by new keys) but it's better than nothing.
