Nice, adding more cores is always a good thing. some questions tho.

    1. Where do i find the linux version for this? tried themaisters page but only found windows binaries.
    2. does this work with multiman? like when i select a SNES game it fires up retroarch and automaticly loads the SNES core?
    3. i'm really really new to this whole MAME thing, but got a couple of games working on my ubuntu. does CPS3 work? and people talk alot about having the right romset, what? why? can't i just use any old ROM i have lying around?

    1. Not sure myself

    2. SNES is the only system currently working with multiMAN. but that has bugs..
Example: when you boot a SNES game and it works when you try to switch cores you are put back to the XMB or it freeses (can't remenber) all other systems wont even boot the rom..
Multiman option in retroarch has been broken and will not return to multiMAN it will go back to XMB.

Hopefully @deank and/or @twinaphex aka sqaurepusher can get this working

UPDATE: Link this link from this thread, shows what you need to get SNES working..

    3. CPS3 i would use the FBalpha core. look below and see the systems emulated per core.
Make sure you have have the latest mame romset for FBA games..

The reason you cant use old roms can be answered better by someone else.. but simply put as the emulators change and get better, they need the latest romsets.. No way around that..
(NoW some systems like the Sega arcades borads older roms worked, but CPS 1/2/3 neo geo they needed latest MAME romsets)

I have a question. Can Mednafen_PCE play Castlevania Dracula X Chi no Rondo?
Because it gives me error when I try to load the game. It's a WIP so maybe it will be fixed later but I don't know if I'm doing somethin wrong...

Reducing the size of SEGA CD BINs by ripping out the CD audio - Thanks to BahumatLord @ PSX-Scene.com

OK guys - I did manage to rip all the audio tracks for Sonic CD and it's playing flawlessly. Original file size was 573 megs. New size minus all the CD audio (not gameplay sound effects) is 115 megs. This should work for all Sega CD games drastically reducing the file space requirements. Remember that if/when CD audio support is added to the emulator you'll need to get fresh roms/cd images.

You will need bin_to_cso_mp3.exe which is contained in Picodrive. You can find that on dl.qj.net. You'll probably also need LAME so the program will run without errors. In command prompt type bin_to_cso_mp3 -i (name of cue) (name of new set).

    Example

    bin_to_cso_mp3 -i "Sonic CD.cue" "Sonic Fixed"

Once the program starts converting the audio tracks you can hit ctrl-c to stop the program. The only file you need from the new set is the ISO file. You will rename that with a BIN extension instead and load it up in the emulator.

It's late and I'm done for the night but if something doesn't make sense I'll explain better tomorrow. Just let me know what you're stuck on. I've got around 70 gigs of Sega CD disc images. I think it would be safe to say that could be cut down to around 5-10 gigs
One last thing. Here is a bat file to automate the process. It was thrown together very quickly so it's not perfect. It is very important that your cue file matches your bin file exactly or you're going to have problems. This will convert the file using bin_to_cso_mp3. It will delete all unneeded files and delete the original files as it goes so you don't have to worry about running out of hard drive space. If you use the command at the bottom it will process every cd image in that directory
    Code:
    @echo off
    bin_to_cso_mp3 -i -w %1 "%~n1"
    del "%~n1\*.wav"
    del "%~n1\*.cue"
    del %1
    del "%~n1.bin"
    ren "%~n1\%~n1_01.iso" "%~n1.bin"
    move "%~n1\%~n1.bin" .
    rd "%~n1"
it is advised to save this file as SegaCDFIX.BAT in your windows directory. You should also put bin_to_cso_mp3 files and LAME files in there too or add their directories to your system path. You will then navigate to where your Sega CD images are and type the following

for %f in (*.cue) do SegaCDFix "%f"
I'm converting all my disc images now. Here's a sample of what's been done so far. you can see how big of a file size drop it's been so far

There is a bug when switching core, the main menu is mangled, with black background. MK1 does not work on iMame4All, perhaps because it is still WIP.

Yes MK1 doesnt work all the other should..(mk games)
NBA hangtime wont work. but NBA hangtime Extreme will..

I havent had issue changing cores.. Now when you are changing games with mednafen_PCE or IMAME4ALL already selected
You should change the core.. EVEN if you have that core selected if not it will freeze.

Example you have MKII playing on imame4all, and you want to to switch to MKIII.. even if your on imame4all already change the core to imame4all again then select a new game

those two are WIP and still needs some work. They will improve. Overall they aren;t bad, even at this stage.

I think I'll wait for a better fix instead of doing all of that work for Sega CD games. Thanks for posting a fix for now though pete.

I've left all of my BINs intact as I don't want to have to transfer them all again when CDDA is working
