WIP: Showtime - TV : Project Cancelled, Lawyers Win Again!

For PS3 users in certain countries they have the nice feature of being able to watch local TV channels depending on what Sony decides to offer!

But now thanks to hard-efforts facanferff, he has announced today over at PS3Hax that he now working on a new Plugin for the amazing Showtime Media Player that will allow you view whatever TV Channels you wish to watch on your Jailbreak'able PS3 Console!

We already know that "It only does Everything" but in the near future we will be able to add to that phrase "And TV".

I'll explain that, at the moment, I'm (facanferff) developing a plugin that will allow anyone with a PS3 to watch TV channels live from their PS3.

It will be a plugin for Showtime, so you will only need two things: a Jailbroken PS3 and Showtime installed (with that plugin). The last package will be released once the plugin has more TV channels available, at the moment, and because it is a WIP in start, it has already working every channel of ONE HD and NRJ (all subtypes of both).

And because I like to hear people, I want to know, what are your favourite TV Channels that you would like to be incorporated in the plugin? Post them in the thread or e-mail them to facanferff@hotmail.com
More and More the 'scene' developers are really the ones (not Sony) making the PS3 live up to it's famous marketing claim:

"It Only Does Everything!" -- But TV is NOT allowed!

    NEWS UPDATE:

Sadly due to extreme legal heat from highly-paid lawyers, this project has been cancelled by the developer!

And I was so looking forward to it also.

Does this mean I can get Sky Sports for the free lol
So, what other type "plugins" does showtime support? would it be possible to use plugins from XBMC?
There are many, MANY worthy plugins for XBMC, porting over the Navi-X plugin to Showtime would be awesome.

There were plans to port the Navi-X engine to WiiMC maybe they would consider porting it to Showtime too.

Great news. I hope it'll work out to the point we can imput our own live streams but maybe that's too much to ask. And including sopcast streams is even more impossible I guess but regarding which tv channels should be included... well, NRJ and other music channels are a good start for now.

Btw, speaking of porting, I hope someday someone ports VLC to the PS3. It even has support for powerpc and livestreamwise it's great. Although it has no media center-ish frontend like showtime (which I wouldn't wanna live without anymore)
