I was lurking on other foruns searching more info on cex2dex and in the process of obtaining my "355DEX.EID0.NORBIN" and eidroot key, and i have those files now.
Even with very much info on the cex2dex method, thereīs a lot of guides that still use the linux part, formating hdd, etc, and due to the fact that the cex2dex process can be without the linux part, i was looking for guides, letīs say... noob friedly (as myself, i am not ashamed to recognize that). With that sayed, i have found this tutorial http://www.ps3iso.com/ps3-tutorials/...dex-n00bs.html and i have reached step 5, that is: i have now on my PC, the eid_root_key and 355DEX.EID0.NORBIN (obtained after cex2dex the 2 files: flash_stor_35500.bin - obtained with memdump and eid_root_key)
Prior to go further, could some of you guys, get a look on the tutorial and see if it is safe to follow it?
I will not dex my ps3 yet, but this as to do with research and in the future have all the files needed to dex my console, if needed (i wont lie, it has to do with future backups and some already playable on dex, like Sleeping Dogs or Journey) if now other solutions comes.
Thanks in advance!
Edited: just found Gdrive answer in here: http://www.ps3crunch.net/forum/threa...7904#post47904 and will have a look on the tutorial described. Why not "stick it" on this thread?
Even so, does the above tutorial described on ps3iso makes sense?

The PS3iso tutorial is safe to follow, but when you shutdown the console, do that via XMB and NOT VIA MMOS OR THE POWER BUTTON and also, you can safely restart the console normally, BUT make sure your console is QA-flagged before you change your targetID by flashing the console.
Also, I can stick that tutorial as it is deemed useful to noobs as well.

I think a sticky makes sense. Will QA-flag first, then. You now, the word "brick" near to a procedure like this, it gives me "goosebumps"... brrrrrrrr.....

The only real brick risk is when converting back to CEX. I think it's to do with the syscon version or something like that
So QA Flag, then set Debug Update (or something like that) in the "Hidden menu", then flash your DEX NORBIN with MM, Quit to XMB & shutdown using the PS button on the Pad.
Turn the PS3 back on and install a DEX firmware.
C2D will only output the DEX flash file if everything went right
To be honest, with Rogero's 3.55 DEX there's no real reason to convert back

Hello. Just looked at the tutorials for unbricking for dex to cex conversions (cause my ps3 beeps around 8 times then turns off again). However i am a little confused. This is why im confused.... i was using reactpsn and i mistakenly pressed "right". I didnt change anything prior in multiman for the dex to cex conversion and i was on dex 3.55 Exeedy FW. So, im just wondering when i follow the tutorial do i install my dex FW again or do i have to install cex?. As said all i have done is pressed the right button on the controller and have not changed anything in multiman to do with the dex to cex conversion. When i first turned my ps3 i freaked out cause it was beeping and just auto turned off, hope someone can help . Thanks in advance

1. If my dumb brain serves me well, I take it you haven't changed your TargetID code to a CEX-compliant one (that is: from 0x83 to 0x8E) (http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Target_ID)?
2a. If you HAVE changed it to a CEX TargetID and you've soft-bricked it, then you use Rogero's CEX firmware for the FSM phase
2b. If you HAVEN'T done that (2a), then I think you will need to use Rogero's DEX firmware for the FSM phase, and by the way, I wouldn't use ANY DEX firmwares other than either the official Sony one or Rogero's DEX 3.55 firmware.

Hello there everyone. I recently ran into the brick issue when reflashing from DEX to CEX. I just wanted to let everyone know that I was able to un-brick my PS3 using iPhone 3g with PSGRADE. It took me four, wide-eyed, days to finally Un-brick. The main problem I ran into was finding the right PSGrade files. Seems psfreedom wiki is no longer around to keep all us users with accessible information and downloads. Also, I followed Andreus' tut to help in my recovery process thanks to everyone who has provided us end-users with a fix
