You only need linux once just to obtain your key. After you have the keys you can switch to cex/dex/change the ps3 region from GameOS. Yes, it may be possible to obtain the key without installing linux (either from livecd or using some other method), but not at the moment.

NOTE: While I was converting my PS3 from CEX to DEX and then back from DEX to CEX I NEVER used the POWER BUTTON to turn-off/restart the PS3. The only time I had to do that is at the beginning when you have to enter the Recovery Menu after OTHEROS PUP is installed. All other firmware updates are performed from XMB (not from recovery menu) and all restarts/turn-offs are performed with {PS}->Turn Off in GameOS, or shutdown/restart/boot-to-game-os while in petitboot or linux.

No, I won't reupload it. If you need the OTHEROS-22GB pup - there is a link in the post, so just download, rename to PS3UPDAT.PUP and put in \PS3\UPDATE folder on your usb along with the other stuff from the 50MB package.

@deank thanks m8 followed your tut & am now on DEX 3.55 .... but have run into a problem using MM ....installed MM 4.01 and then the DEX patch, but when i launch MM i get BD-EMU error ...wrong system firmware??? what have i done wrong

got it working....forgot to add lv1 + lv2 peek & poke....just use mfw builder.

I have a problem with multiman 4.04.03 DEX:
with OFW 3.55 DEX it works without any serious problem(well it crashed when i tried to exit to xbm but nothing big) but when i try to boot it with MFW 3.55 DEX(peek & poke added) the ps3 simply freeze after the 3 agreement screens and i have to hold down the power button to turn it off.

I tried the same thing with multiman 4.01.00 + DEX mod and this version works without any problem and i can even play backups.

Could you please look into it?
