Doesnt work mate on 3.55 DEX - go to mount the game and crashes black screen.

Same here Dean, multiman starts correctly this time but freeze when you try to load a backup

Damn! I so DON'T want to go back to DEX

Can you check in "Settings -> System Information" and what version/payload does it report?

I checked and it doesn't say anything about the payload and the payload selector it's gone too from the settings tab.

edit: another thing,the system information reports that i'm on fw 4.00 when i'm clearly on 3.55 (version 4.01.00 displays this correctly)

Good. On DEX 3.55 there is no other payload but the one I ported, so it is all good if it says "3.55 DEX" in SysInfo and not "SC36"

System Information is displaying the correct firmware on 3.55 DEX however not on 4.11 and a new IDPS line on 3.55, but not displaying payload on either. no crashes this time 3.55 works as version 4.01.00, however 04.04.03 now works on both firmwares.

On DEX firmware 3.56+ it will display "4.00" as there is no easy way to get the real version. That should do for now.

Its ok , you're not derailing.
So you're original CEX backup is called something like
CEX355.EID0.NORBIN ? (.EID0.NORBIN is the important part)
All you should have had to do was double click that to flash.
Reboot PS3 and install a normal 3.55 CFW.

yeah, dumped with multiman and i renamed it with .eid0.norbin so multiman would flash it. All was fine to convert it to a DEX, but when I wanted to go back to CEX, I could not get it boot in recovery mode, it beeps 8 times, then turns off. I really don't know where I went wrong but I am sure i did something wrong on my end.

NOWHERE in the tutorial it says to go to "RECOVERY MODE" after flashing CEX/DEX NOR.

Flash DEX from multiMAN -> reboot PS3 -> Install DEX firmware from XMB
Flash CEX from multiMAN -> reboot PS3 -> Install CFW/CEX/KMEAW from XMB.
