1. If my dumb brain serves me well, I take it you haven't changed your TargetID code to a CEX-compliant one (that is: from 0x83 to 0x8E) (http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Target_ID)?
2a. If you HAVE changed it to a CEX TargetID and you've soft-bricked it, then you use Rogero's CEX firmware for the FSM phase
2b. If you HAVEN'T done that (2a), then I think you will need to use Rogero's DEX firmware for the FSM phase, and by the way, I wouldn't use ANY DEX firmwares other than either the official Sony one or Rogero's DEX 3.55 firmware.
Perfect thanks for your reply. No i have not changed the targetID. Not since when i done the cex to dex conversion. I am however having some issues booting FSM. My slim just beeps even when i have my dongle in (minimus avr v1) then it turns off again. I have unpluged the power as you normally would with a dongle. But after that when i put my usb in with the "PSEUPDAT" 3.55 DEX OFW and the lv2diag file in root my slim still jjust beeps and turns off. it tries to read the usb but fails. I have tried quite a few hex files, unless im doing it wrong to get into FSM?

Right, having the FSM jig inserted into the far-right USB port already, first press the power button and then the eject button LESS THAN a second after you pressed the power button, and the best way to do that is have your right hand index finger/thumb (index finger if your PS3 is flat down or thumb if your PS3 is standing vertically) on the Power button and your left index finger/thumb on the Eject button - it should just switch on and then turn off without making any beeps.
After that, you THEN insert a USB dongle with the lv2diag (FSM entering mode) file and your firmware named as "PS3UPDAT.PUP" (sans the speech marks) files on the root of your memory stick into THAT same port (far-right USB port) - wait for it to switch off automatically, as that's when it indicates that the firmware installation is done, and then after that, start up your PS3 without any dongle to check if it has installed successfully and then after that, shut down your PS3, stick on the lv2diag (FSM exiting mode) file onto your memory stick and delete the PUP on that memory stick, and then insert the memory stick into the PS3's far-right USB port and restart it as normal.

Yup i have already done all of that. I think my issue might be... i only have one lv2diag and i think that's for exiting FSM. Is there a separate one for entering?. The firmware definitely doesn't install because when i put the usb in it reads it without beeps then 10 secs later stops reading then beeps.

Awesome! Thanks getting there! (or at least i think i am). I downloaded the lv2diag from another source and it wouldn't work. But just got it from the link above and now the console has stopped beeping. It read the usb and keeps reading it occasionally, so... i presume it is installing it currently!..... Its just finished. Console just turned off. I now turn it on without usb or dongle inserted and it should boot into FSM?
UPDATE. Just turned it on and it still beeps. No video. The FW i just installed (or should have installed) was OFW 3.55 dex.

Well, first of all, once you have the firmware installed via FSM, you should take out the memory dongle, and start it up, which you did, but once you've done that, it SHOULD boot up WITH VIDEO, AND A RED BOX STATING THAT THE CONSOLE IS IN FSM!
Secondly, the text file states that everything went okay, supposedly.
Thirdly, you might want to try Rogero's DEX 3.55 OR CEX 3.55 and see how that works - the latter installs successfully whilst a console is soft-bricked whilst going from DEX to CEX but I'm not sure about the former as I haven't encountered your situation before - try them both anyway if you want and see how that goes.
Well. My machine is still dex because when i try and install cex FW (just tried rebug) it failed. I have tried OFW 3.55 DEX and rogero v2. Im just trying the convert pup to see if that will save me. If it doesn't do you have any other ideas?.
Does FSM only work with analogue?. Im currently using hdmi, if it is analogue only then maybe that's why i do not have video?

OFW DEX 3.55 - outcome: installed said everything was successful but still beeped after install and didn't display video.
rogero 3.55 DEX V2 - outcome: Same as above
convert back to dev from retail pup. - outcome: Same as above
CEX 3.55.2 rebug - Outcome: during the FW install the green power light started flashing and usb reading stopped. Turned the machine off checked the usb and the install was unsuccessful.
I think i will upload a video of what i am doing because other people have got out of this situation so there must be something i am doing wrong.

The part that I italicized, bolded, and underlined raised a brow for me. As far as I know, from the tut that I used (http://www.ps3crunch.net/forum/threa...6086#post46086) to unbrick, you are supposed to re-flash the ps3 to a CEX firmware, preferably Rogero's CEX CFW 3.4 (http://www.ps3devwiki.com/files/firm...r/Rogero-V3.4/) due to syscon hash checks. Other firmwares, again, as far as I know, do not reset the syscon hash checks so that is why Rogero's CEX CFW is required. I don't think the Rebug firmware will work but I could be wrong. Again, the tut I linked is for a DEX to CEX brick.
Please forgive me, if in fact, you actually bricked some other way as I did not go back and read all of your posts. But the method above worked flawlessly for me once I got the correct FSM files for my iPhone. On that note, make sure you have the correct payload for your JIG to get into FSM. That little tid bit of info is what cost me 4 days of trying to un-brick my console. I had everything correct as far as following the Tuts, it was just that I had the wrong payload loading from my iPhone. The moment I got the correct files, it worked like a dream :P Hopefully this info helps you. If not and I am way off from helping you with your issue then forgive me and best of luck.

Thanks for a reply. The payload i am using is psgrade for minimus avr v1. My payload must be working correctly because after inserting the dongle my machine beeps the eight times. Then turns off, BUT when i put my usb in it doesn't beep and it actually reflash's the FW. You say try CEX FW however my target ID is still set to 0x82. I will give it a go, but normally if i install CEX FW it will just copy it over and then the install will not finish because of my target ID and the power light will then just flash. Also in my text file it states unsuccessful. But i will try anything at the moment! Just going to flash Rogero 3.4 CEX. Will post repose as soon as it has finished

Well. After much of a headache it actually worked! Rogero CEX worked perfect. Im just in FSM now. Thanks NeilJames for your help!! I think others need to know that even if you press "right" while loading reactpsn this will still save your butt. I do just have one question (if you NeilJames or anyone else can answer this would be great). I obviously want to go back to DEX i was just messing around trying to reactivate my psn content from my other ps3. Would i need to go through the whole CEX to DEX process again because my target ID has changed and everything else to accept the CEX FW. Or can i just open up reactpsn and press right again and it should go from cex to dex but if i just press right again it will semi brick obviously. I will have to do the CEX to DEX process in reactpsn to successfully transfer back wouldn't i?
