I've tried the 4.20 update which worked fine. But now I am stuck on it. No way to go back to 3.55 DEX. The updater doesn't recognize the downgrade pup. (No applicable data found). Luckily it's still a DEX, but a bit useless without multiman and the downgrade.

If anyone knows how to get back to DEX 3.55 I would love to hear it.

Try the RogerO 3.55 P&P one, it should downgrade, if not follow his tutorial

Also the DEX switcher to CEX PUP should work, then you can switch back to DEX 3.55 after running the switcher to CEX pup.

Ok, I think it would really help to have a sticky post to cover benefits of DEX vs CEX. I just converted my console to DEX 3.55 P&P Rogero and installed mmOS 4.4.3 DEX. It says there is a problem and it cannot create game backup. Now what does that mean?
If I upgrade to 4.11 DEX can I play 4.11 games backup? Do they need to be patched before they can be played?
Why downgrade from 4.11 to 3.55 DEX? What do you lose when going to DEX?

I would appreciate someone breaking all this development for the average users like us.

Thanks GaryOPA, but that didn't work either. I gotten an error 8002F95E error if I remembered correctly when using all of the PUP's attached to this post. With the small downgrader PUP I got an error saying that it didn't find any suitable update.

If it helps, my PS3 was Slim model with 3.41 on it before attempting the conversion. I've used the method from naehrwert which used a method without linux to get the key. After that I used MM to save the Norbin, C2D and then flashed it with 3.55DEX Rogero, then 4.20 and after that I was stuck for a bit.

I got it back again from 4.20 -> 4.11 and then 3.55D from the ps3 wiki site. Used only original "unmodified" PUP's. After that I could go back to Rogero which worked. For now I am staying on this firmware.

Ok, I found a possible solution, I'm trying it right now with Recovery Mode.

1. Prepare USB-Stick with this PUP (rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP and put it on the USB - x:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP)
2. Connect it to the port near the BD-Drive
3. Start the PS3, if it is already booted up, Shutdown and Boot again.
4. Go Directly to Systemupdate and select "update via storage media".
5. Hopefully it is now Downgrading to 3.55 DEX.

or try to flash the PUP with Target Manager!

hi all,

just wonder if someone could help me out here before i do amything lol.just converted my ps3 slim was on kmeaw 3.55 to dex using the method to get root key without linux,then used multiman to flash.then used itskamels dex firmware all working great and no worries.just like to know if i upgraded to a higher dex fw say 4.11 do i use the downgrader pup once and the install itskamels dex again.reason am asking is i have a few originals that require a higher fw.also can i put all of the fimwares on the hdd and upgrade/downgrade that way instead of changing usb sticks all the time?
