But when I come back to CEX (using the original dump from MM) I have to turn off the PS3 first and then install a CFW CEX
Is that right?
pretty much, the only thing I want to add is that I want to stress the fact that when you convert back to CEX, you have to turn the PS3 off using the PS3's shutdown menu that you access by holding the home button of the PS3 remote, it is VERY important that you do not turn off the PS3 by switching the power button off or by pulling the power cable. But as long as you keep that in mind then yeah, that is the safest way to switch to DEX.
following my previous post rsod i reflashed dex.rflash.bin.was succesfull then Lv2diag.self....downgrade file with rogero.dex 3.55 then console rebooted.install 3.55 origanal.dex..then updated to 4.11...usb backups working fine.normal games working fine no blue-ray and doesnt show any dvd when in drive..however rsod fixed..
PS3 model #: CECHJ04 ( Fat )
Original Firmware #: Don't remember. Like 2.xx
Highest Firmware #: 3.55
Console QA yes/QA no: no
CEX Firmware before conversion: 3.55
DEX Firmware after conversion: 3.55
Highest Dex Firmware used: 3.55
Final Dex Firmware: Rogero 3.55 DEX V2
Specify Region Changes: 85->82->85 real changes
All CEX Firmwares after conversion: Rogero 3.4 I think, kmeaw to reset syscon hash
Bricked going from Dex - Cex
Rogero DEX v2, Multiman -> CEX flash, didn't reboot started thinking, flashed DEX flash back ok.
But I was missing Blu-ray functionality so I decided to take the risk, flashed CEX flash shutdown,
XMB didn't allow installing CEX firmware so had to shutdown, tried recovery = beep loop.
I used my TI84+ to go to the factory mode, and with Lv2diag.self + Rogero 3.55 3.40 pup if
was able to recover PS3 functionality. Then QA-Flagged + kmeaw, to reset syscon hash.
just something for you guys was going up to dex 4.20 and left my bd hd plugged in the ps3 froze at the restart menu after the firmware has installed and would not respond to anything so i had to pull the plug then it took like 30 seconds to boot back up with the ps3 wave floating in the background for which seemed like ages so if you go up and down dex dont leave your usb plugged in

Do you have a link to a guide on how you used your TI84+ to recover your ps3?
Highest Firmware BEFORE the CEX-to-DEX Conversion:
3.55CFW KMEAW
Console QA Flag Status:
Disabled (before CEX-to-DEX Conversion) - Enabled during the Rollback Brick Fix/Syscon Hash Reset phase
CEX Firmware Before Installation:
3.55CFW KMEAW (CEX)
DEX Firmware After Installation:
3.55OFW DEBUG (DEX)
Highest DEX Firmware Used:
4.11OFW DEBUG (DEX)
Last DEX Firmware Used Before DEX-to-CEX Rollback:
3.55OFW DEBUG with Downgrade Support (DEX)
Region/TargetID Changes:
87 (UK) > 82 (DEBUG) > 87 (UK) (brick phase happened when trying to restart the console after the TargetID change and then restarted the console)
Firmware Changes Made on my PS3:
3.55OFW CEX > 3.55CFW KMEAW CEX > 3.55OFW DEX > 4.11OFW DEX > 3.55OFW with downgrade support (DEX) > [BRICKED whilst changing TargetID back to 87 and restarted the console] > 3.55CFW Rogero with Patched LV1/LV2, 4.20 PSN Spoof and no-BD Fixes (CEX) > 3.55CFW KMEAW (CEX)
Brick Phase:
When converting back to CEX by changing the TargetID and then decided to restart the console, but then the console wouldn't start up.
Brick Fixing Process/Status:
Used a rooted & PSgrade bootloader/recovery image-modded HTC Desire Z to put the PS3 into service mode, and then followed tul/andreus's tutorials for the rollback brick fix, and eventually Rogero's Syscon Hash Reset tutorial for reinstalling KMEAW firmware > STATUS: Console Fixed (will not be trying this again for the meantime).

Whoops - I've mentioned what recovery image I've used on the PS3Hax link before I got a two-year ban for "no reason (was specified)" - but here's the quote!
