I read from another forum it said that have to edit xmb_plugin.sprx & xmb_ingame.sprx .And i've tried to edit them no problem but after replace the original file with edited file.
The PlaystationNetwork and Friend disapear but the icons seem transparent can still select. And after restart ps3 no icons apear on XMB
screen so i had to reflash firmware on service mode. I dont know why. i've tried many way but still no luck.
Do you have the compiled file of RCOMage 1.1.1v For Linux ?
as for rcos and rcomage, please leave the icons in it and disable gim conversion. to my knowledge the gims cannot be successfully converted back to rcos. on some german forum someone told me to use linux version of rcomage, as it should handle better gim format, but i haven't tested this. also this app that handles gims is a sony official one and not selfmade.
the only thing you can do for deleting items on xmb is, to edit those xmls found in:
dev_flash/vsh/resource/explore/xmb
but i would do it manually as i found it buggy on those ps3mfw tasks and never could do it really successfully. the gameexit function mainly corrupted or dummy icons without picture. my self-editted xmls work like a charm. also do not remove categories from xmb, as it makes it glitchy...
i can recommend rcomage homepage "endlessparadigm" to everyone who wants to alter rcos. i also studied this site as i did rebug german translation. on this side you can also find a special command for gim convert's config file.
as side note:
you CAN modify the system sound files on system_plugin.rco directly and replace them. i've done this already, but you have to be careful on the vags as the original ones have some info string in header which has to be applied to your custom.
stupid answer. there is a better tool out there from demonhades called EasyPNG2GIM. disadvantage of it, it can only be executed from c root and needs gimconv folder.
