What are my options (a little rundown please)?

Hi there,
I didn't use my PS3 for a long time. I modded it, but that was MONTHS ago (maybe about 10 months?). I have a CFW and used multiMan back then because what I wanted mainly to do was playing my games from the HDD. I remember that I couldn't play really new games back then because the FW was newer then the CFW I use.

So... after all these months of abstinence a lot seems to have changed so I just wanted to ask in general: what is the best program nowadays? What do I need (I don't want to buy a dongle)? Is it possible to play/backup games with a new CFW (because if you wanted to start them you had to upgrade to the original FW again and back then it wasn't possible to downgrade and there was no CFW that high)?
Basically what I need is a little rundown when it comes to playing games from HDD and it would be great if someone could give me a hand. Would be really great.

Well you came back at the right time. 3.60 keys have been released so as long as you're still on 3.55CFW (like Kmeaw) you can search for these eboots and install the .pkg file or if it's an eboot just replace it with the games original eboot. I think I used 3.55kmeaw. So how do I do this? Is there a new 3.60cfw I need? Is it enough to update my multiMan, copy a game do HDD and install the pkg file for said game?

Just get any multiman 4 version, there is no 3.60 CFW, 3.55 kmeaw is fine, put game on hd install pkg or replace eboot depends on game, have an official ps3 disc in drive and play.

Thanks. If that's all that's needed, that's great. I tried looking at the main page for infos but what I read there just confused the hell out of me. Couldn't manage to even understand what the presented tools do ^^; *cough*

Getting Uncharted 3 to run will be different than the other games. But it does work

I tried Uncharted 3, Catherine and No More Heroes today. I had to apply a new eboot for each of them (and UC3 freezes when you open the Journal, but what the hell?), but they ran smoothly so fine. Played through the first level of each.

Now I will take a look into all those new features from multiman (that thing is SO different than the last time I used it) and I think I'll take a look at what the homebrew scene has cooked up. I'm always a sucker for emulators of old consoles and such things. ^^

If the journal freezes you got an old patch, need a newer, the first patches for that the journal would freeze the game.

To be honest, if it's only the journal that freezes I don't really care. But so far, so good. The other games I tested seemed to work fine too.

Yeah but at a point in the game cant remember which level, you can't continue because the journal auto opens as part of the story and freezes the game. Dont think there is a PSP emu.
