to repeat what Berion has already explained (in case you are still doubtful)
The ps3 encrypts the hdd using a value unique to that console.
When you put it in another console, it will look like gibberish because it is trying to decrypt it using a different key (unique to the 2nd console).
There is a clone hdd feature in the rebug firmware (and dex firmware) that is supposed to copy absolutely everthing to a new hdd. The new one must be at least as big as the current hdd.

this is not the right thread for questions like that, but to answer your question have you gone into the debug settings on DEX and changed the "Blu-ray Disc Access" setting to "BD Emulator (USB)"
If you have not then that it the problem most likely the problem.
Also just to be sure you when you say that you have installed those backups on your external drive you are talking about writing them to the drive using ps3gen right? because if that is not the case then the backups won't work at all on OFW 4.11.
yh i changed the debug settings yes i did write them with ps3gen but they didn,t wouldn,t show up on XMB in game
I'm slightly confused as to what you mean, when you connect your drive to the PS3 does show you the backup that you wrote to the first partition on your disk, if it does then it is working as it should, the PS3 will not display all 4 backups at once if that is what you're expecting.
how would one move their trophy's , and saved game files manually ? and will they work being injected on to another HDD , after creating a user name that is the same....
could i put my old HDD back in after ? or will it no longer read anymore ?
