Yeah, 100% of Glevand work was only possible because of 'graf_chokolo' releasing his 'sony b i b l e' after his second raid by Sony.

Only reason why I didn't mention in the 'front page' news post, is one of the only 'takedown' notices we got in the past was because of
hosting his 'b i b l e', as Crunch was the main supporting of Graf's work, hosting his blog and files, and under an agreement of his lawyers it was best to remove the files and not promote his name.

I have more on this subject, but for rights of privacy my lips have been sealed, just know that because of his ground-breaking work alot of things we see today is possible, sadly it just took a long time for people to understand his notes and files.

So does this mean that for people with YLOD systems we can now finally access content from our harddrives by connecting it to a PC? Because HDs are locked to the PS3 system on which it was formatted on. But since my system died a couple of years ago I never was able to recover my pictures, videos, and most importantly game saves. And thanks to everyone for their hard work on advancing the scene.

No, because to be able to decrypt the HDD you'll need your PS3 working to obtain the key, which is specific to your PS3.

    (Facepalms at my own mistake)

I've misread thegigabyte's comment - hence me originally saying the opposite!

    Thanks for the comment though!

The best thing is 'future-prevention' now that we can access the unique keys in the EID, dump them and store them away in a safe place.

So in the future if your PS3 dies from YLOD, you might be able to decrypt and save your stuff.

The best I think will be 'disable it 100%', since our machines are running CFW and not going online, why have lock on our HDD, just run a PKG that grabs the unique keys, and reads the whole drive and rewrites it unencrypted, and then disables that function.

You need to replaces xxx with the real key seed values, it comes from some isolated modules in firmware and all of them are in the wiki just look at it.
Look at this page and you will find all what you asked about:
