At the bottom of the main forum page on this site it says there are 2312 users currently online. 97 members and 2215 guests. Looking below that it says there are a total of 32 members that have visited the site today. Random thread I know and yes it is not world changing or even interesting in the slightest but the curiosity has gotten the better of me and I just needed to ask the question: Why??? Why is the amount of current viewing members higher than the total members for the day 0.o

The site's prolly just sluggish at updating the readership stats - not a big issue really!
Instead of me being a complete and total dick and a prick, I should be on my best behaviour!
what i dont get is total posts thank thing why 3 different #'s ? what does "total thanked posts" mean? shouldnt it be = to total posts given ,whats the difference?
i can not figure out what this 3rd nuber is and what its for ,i mean shouldn't there be just 2 numbers? 1 for how many thanks you gave to other people posts and one for how many thanks your posts have got from other people ? what is the 3rd # ? it make no sense

Okay let me explain:
Join Date/Post Count are self-explanatory.
Total Thanks Given is the amount of thanks you have given to everyone on here - e.g. you have given 456 thanks throughout your time here.
Total Thanks Received is the amount of thanks you have received on here - e.g. you have received 878 thanks overall
Total Thanked Posts is the amount of thanked posts you have - e.g. you have 12 thanked posts
Combining "total thanks received" and "total thanked posts", some forums will have a single-line thank-tally layout like this: Thanked 878 times in 12 posts - but however, that layout was scrapped as it make the forum layout look horrible and as for your layout suggestion, when you've stated that there should be two numbers, well some prefer to know how many thanked posts they have,
Instead of me being a complete and total dick and a prick, I should be on my best behaviour!
still makes no sense what is the difference? if you have recieved xx amount of thanks from other people , that is the the total reciveved thanks #
then you have a total thanks "Total Thanked Posts is the amount of thanked posts you have - e.g. you have 12 thanked posts"
the 2 number should the same it dont make sense
"12 thanks posts , and 12 posts that have recieved thanks from other people what is the difference why 2 different #s ,you have 2 different # for the same description ,it dont make sense
"you've stated that there should be two numbers, well some prefer to know how many thanked posts they have,"
yeah wouldnt that be one of the 2 #'s ? as in total thanks recived?
whats the othr 3rd # for ?
i mean 1st of all the language is vague and can be interpreted 2 different ways, total thanked posts could be construed in 2 different ways, it could either mean the total posts you have made that were thanked ,or it could be interpeted as the total number of other peoples posts you have thanked ,
but the # next to it dont match either of the other 2 numbers that have those description it dont make sense
unless there is a way to thank someone without thanking a post they made? but where is the button for that i have never seen it
Total Thanks Given
0
Total Thanks Received
0
Total Thanked Posts
0
I see your post and thanked you. My stats would reflect
Total Thanks Given
1
Total Thanks Received
0
Total Thanked Posts
0
Now you see i thanked your post and you do the same so i receive 1
Total Thanks Given
1
Total Thanks Received
1
Total Thanked Posts
1
Following?
Now if 10 more users thanked my post without me giving anymore thanks, it will show as follows
Total Thanks Given
1
Total Thanks Received
11
Total Thanked Posts
1
Is it simplified?

Except that last way would be erroneous. Because you can only thank a post once, meaning that amount of posts you thank and the supposed total thanked posts you made would be the same. Now more than one person can thank a single post. So if you have three thanks then that means you can have 1 thanked post, 2 thanked posts, or three thanked posts. Someone that posts a lot of guides or news is expected to have less thanked posts compared to his thanks because a lot of members would gravitate their thanks to those posts when they have been helped. And users that make a lot of opinionated posts that others agree with, are expected to have a more even count between the two numbers.
Based on examination of the two possible meanings, I would say the current use is correct and if any user misunderstands that, it is not the site's fault. You can never fault someone for speaking (or writing) their language correctly.
