is this necessary !!!! downloaded games wont start without a ps3 original disc in drive.

Depends on the game. I've heard MGS4 works discless with Directboot selected, also you should try fix permissions on the game first. (Highlight game in multiman, press square then select fix permissions)

Dont know if you still need BDEMU2.pkg for newer multiman on Kmeaw havent used Kmeaw in several months.

No you don't - I haven't used any BDEMU packages for the newer, Cobra-sub-branded multiMAN versions (mmCM), and the games can be mounted to the virtual BD-ROM and played from it without an original PS3 game disc

Strange. I don't remember having to use any special settings. Of course I have a cobra, so that may be it. At first I did have to make the game an iso with the cobra, but after internal cache (hermes feature) was added to the cobra I just converted it back to jailbreak format and I can still play it from external. Perhaps Multiman is loading the game with PL3 instead of Hermes.
