I just updated my PS3 Tools Collection, so now if you press Shift+Ctrl+Enter on the EBOOT.BIN (found in app_home/PS3_GAME/USRDIR), from Windows Explorer, the tool will convert the EBOOT.BIN into a fself
Other useful combos for the EBOOT.BIN are:
-Shift+Enter = extract the ELF
-Ctrl+Enter = Resign the EBOOT.BIN
-Enter = Show EBOOT.BIN information (via scetool)
-Alt+Enter = File properties (duh)
still in the testing phase though but had succes on rachell clank , alice monsters return star wars.
look like all the discless games can run this way
i gues the none discless would work if you build an disc with an f_self in ps3gen, mounted in target with bdemu on it would work also.
Zadow, I moved this to the Tutorials section but left a perm redirect in ps3 game backups

Havenīt had to much luck with the games Iīve tried.
The games that I got working were Race Driver Grid, Naughty Bear and a ps3 demo disc I had.
I couldnīt get working Hasbro Family game night, NailīD, Just Cause(trophy error), Bionic Commando(installs game data then gives tropy error), Brain Challenge(trophy error).
Iīll test a few more but I have a feeling compatibilty is pretty low. Iīve only been decrypting eboots though, Iīm not sure if anything els is needed.
Anyways, nice guide. Before I was making the mistake of using dev_hdd0 instead of app_home.
Thanks for the quick tut. thereīs not all that much info for DEX and Iīm always interested in reading up on anything I can.

you have to if it dosent work , map the drive to either z/p/ or what letter you like.
then look at update 1 i wrote.
but i hav en felling some one is gonna make this easyer to us.
also if you want to have some fun meanwhile.
take any pkg unpkg it
then unself the eboot.bin and all in the usr folder.
Why bother doing this for already playable/decryptable backups?
Stay on 3.55 DEX with P&P enabled, much easier and the compatibility is way better.
This method is merely doing what we were doing in the early days on Kmeaw to get games working so anybody who has been in the scene for 12 months or more should know this.
A little bit of history repeating maybe?
What's next? A modified lv2patcher with 4.20 offsets that runs before running multiman? Installable pkg's that make the game playable from the XMB?
Well, hopefully there WILL be a far better solution to run newer games via the "backup-style" methods, and going back to your question, some just prefer to do things the hard way for educational purposes in the hope that it will lead them to something, and in certain cases, the trial-and-error approach towards HAS led to certain things for those who try.
As for looking at this from an end-users' perspective, the only thing I can say is: just wait it out until another scene breakthrough happens!
Instead of me being a complete and total dick and a prick, I should be on my best behaviour!
The question is: until now, all latest leaked DEX firmwares is 4.20. even in the futures the updates (that alllow to play backups on dex) of the games will be 4.21+ .
If no 4.21+ DEX firmware is leaked, then, bye-bye to future backup playing.
With that, i praise the leaked cex2dex method, all the "testers" around the world and all the people that have sacrified is ps3īs, but i still rather wait before i cex2dex my ps3 and see further developments.
Respect to devs and kisses to GR (who i know, lurkes this forum in a sneaky way :-)
