I need some clarification with this step as I am a tad bit confused as to what you mean, exactly. The part where we go to "Users" and click "Shutdown", at this point, do we click "Yes" and the power button on our PS3s simultaneously or do we hit the power button on our PS3s immediately after we click "Yes" from the Shutdown menu? I am just unsure if this is a timing method so some clarification will be appreciated, thanks. Also, what is the purpose of this exactly, just curious.
Another thing, correct me if I am misinformed but isn't Rebug's toggle QA-Flag incompatible with NAND consoles? I think I remember reading that somewhere. My first attempt at CEX to DEX was following a tut that mentioned the QA-FLAG but I did not proceed because I read the the .pkg from Rebug was incompatible with NAND consoles. Again, I could have misread the info.

there's an option in user menu: shutdown system
don't press power button on ps3
shutdown system remotely
or you can turn off your ps3 by press and hold ps button on ps3 controller

Yes, I meant shut-down the system via XMB and then when it has been turned off via XMB, press the POWER button - and by the way, I've re-worded the shut-down parts of the tutorial!
Thank you to those who have pointed out the badly-worded part of the tutorial.
2. Retail games ARE still playable, and you get to have the benefit of playing the newest disc-based retail games without losing homebrew.
Sorry, does this mean if i own the retail disc of any new games, like Persona 4 Arena, i just need to insert it into the DEX PS3 and can play it directly like if was using Official Firmware ?
Thanks

Yes basically, or at least that's what I've heard.
@gDrive
is this to avoid the brick
`make sure you install/have already installed the official DEX 3.55 firmware WITHOUT the Downgrade Support before going back to CEX.`
If im on 4.21 dex
I use rogero Rog-3.55-DEX-DG-V2
Then install `SONY OFFICIAL` DEX 3.55 firmware WITHOUT the Downgrade Support
Then install Mm `CEX` whilst still on `DEX`
Flash my `CEX` original CEX Flash dump
Press controller (PS) button `quit_game` out of Mm
Press controller (PS) button `shutdown system
Turn on PS3 with `Power button` on front of console
Then install KMEAW through `System Update`\ Update from storage media" whilst having the "Turn system off automatically after update" option unchecked

Converting tonight Just want to be 100% sure.
You got that 100% right, and whilst my tutorial says "use the official DEX 3.55 Downgrader PUP", you can use Rogero's DEX Downgrader PUP if you wish to do so.
how is the state before convert?
is the console QA flag'd before convert, then no worries, first be on OFW355dex
flash as the guide
the different for me with hardware flasher, after flashing, release the NOR and shutdown console with the fron button like normal
altough for THIS GUIDE it's not the case..no shutdown
so i flashed back the original flashcex.bin, shutdown normally
power on console, it boots fine
debug settings removed
network-settings: click L1+L2+R12+R2+dpad down+L3 to show the QA debug menu
if it's not there, to be on the safe side, install rebug's qaflag tool and move on from there
it's the same as one is converted with e.g "kmeaw" as cex startpoint, it just boots without the DEX "debug settings"
then just re-install "kmeaw"
Note: it won't hurt having the console qaflag'd anyway, only if you decide to go official/psn then remove it
this is tested&working for hardwareflashing original cexflash(full flash, not only eid section)
good luck on the convert, once you done it couple times it's like sex...easy and good feeling..
I have personally flashed from DEX to CEX four times. Two of those four times I have soft bricked. The thing that kept me from soft bricking the last two times, "QA Flagged copy of my Flash." The two times I soft bricked, I used the CEX2DEX converted flash that I created with an original extract from MM that was not QA Flagged. My console is a NAND based FLASH.
I don't know too much about NOR and I have read that NAND had problems with soft bricking when going from DEX to CEX. Since I experienced two soft brick flashes from DEX to CEX, while using my original NON-QA flagged flash copy, I decided to try a QA flagged version of my flash from CEX to DEX then back to CEX. The outcome was beautiful, no soft brick when I used a copy of a QA flagged flash.
My verdict upon recovering from 2 soft bricks from DEX to CEX, make a Flash copy while QA flagged and use the QA flagged copy of your flash!!!
