    Vanquish not working on DEX

I'm posting to see if I can get any help or information as to why Vanquish will not work with the methods I have tried via a DEX console. First off, the backup I have still works flawlessly via 3.55 CEX. Upon converting to DEX and trying to boot the game with Rogero's DEX peek & poke FW, the game loads fine up till the "CRIWARE" flash screen. At this point, the game freezes and I am forced to do a hard reboot. This happens when loading via LAN with ProdG/TM & mmDM and when attempting to load from Internal. I just recently read that when on DEX, one can't load games from internal. Is this true? I have not yet tried the bdemu method. The reason I have not tried is because Vanquish never worked to begin with on External due to an 8GB .cpk file. Even with the method for loading games with files 4GB+ on CEX CFW, Vanquish never worked.

So, is there anyone willing to help me solve this issue I am having? I'd really like to figure this out even if it's just to learn the process to get this working. Who knows, maybe figuring out the cause for this game not booting will help us with other games experiencing loading issues on DEX. Thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to help me with this endeavor.

    Regards,

    NeilJames.

BDEMU has no filesize limitations. To the ps3 it looks like a real ps3-game-disc inserted.

Heya Dean, I could have sworn I read somewhere that you could only create four partitions of 4GB per partition with the DEX BDEMU method. I'll have to search to see if I can find more info. Aside from the BDEMU Method, do you have any theories as to why this is happening with Vanquish via Lan/Internal. I decided to open the .cpk files to look for maybe a missing .sprx file but to no avail. I figured maybe there is something else that wasn't being decrypted and re-encrypted correctly with mmDM. I actually get an error when mounting the game with mmDM. It stated something about not being able to find fself or something along those lines. I'm guessing that is the main issue @ hand. If I ignore erros and mount game anyway, thats where I get the frozen "CRIWARE" screen.

I'd rather get this game working over LAN than using an ext. HD. Plus I like to figure shit out so this has me tweeking lol. Again, any info or help is appreciated.

You can check in ProDG - File Serving and you'll see if the PS3 tries to look for some files which aren't there. Some games need all files from USRDIR (except for EBOOT.BIN) to be moved to the root folder of the game (alongside with the PS3_GAME folder).

I can't connect with ProDg TM anymore! I don't know wtf happened! I am connected via LAN because I can still FTP and ProDg TM sees my PS3 but it will not establish a connection. The last thing I did was, after watching the "Flie Serving" I noticed Vanquish was being read from the correct file directory but looking through kernel I seen a line of code that read app_home/PS3_Game/USRDIR/eboot.bin, so I changed my folder structure to match that. I adjusted the app_home path accordingly from within ProDG TM then clicked on "Reset". It did not reset properly and it disconnected me from ProDG TM. Since that moment I have not been able to connect with ProDG. My "Reset Mode" was set to "System Software Mode". I keep getting a "Command Failed" error. Command: ConnectToTarget (0x1100002a), Result: 13, Qualifier: 0x0.

As I stated, my PS3 is on LAN as I can still FTP from my "Wired" connection. Please help me out if you'd be so kind. I need ProDG TM working so I can figure out how to get Vanquish working Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Even when starting mmDM I get a, "Remote connection is not available at this moment" message. I am unable to connect with either mmDM or ProDG TM.

Reset into "System software mode". Use "search", too - it was discussed a few times.

Since I could not find anything with search in regards to your last post, from my understanding you have to be connected to do a "Reset into system Software Mode" because the option is grey-ed out otherwise. I'm not saying you're wrong lol just saying on my end that's all I have. Unless it can be performed via the PS3 in Debug settings which in that case I have not found anything that states it is a "Reset into system Software Mode". Sorry for being such a nub dean but thanks for being patient and the help. I wish I could be on topic in regards to getting Vanquish working but being unable to connect is a damn annoyance.

EDIT: I am reconnected! I really don't know wtf I did but I'm back so I'm happy. Too tired to test Vanquish anymore, I i'll try again later.

UPDATE: So upon reading through "File Serving" it keeps "Stopping" in the exact same spot every time. It Stops/freezes while reading/seeking through the shaders.dat which is being read from the correct location. Also, when the game is booting the Console Output/All reads:
    Code:
Game: game exec processID = [0x01010200]

I really don't know what this all means but if I were to take a wild guess, it is having trouble reading the shader.sdat file being stored on my pc. If you'd like to take a look, anyone, and see if maybe you'd like to take a crack at decoding the above info, it will be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE 2: I am lost. I've tried everything I can think of. My conclusion, the problem is due to, either, the EBOOT.BIN or the shader.sdat file, Decryption/Encryption, I don't know. I've managed to get Heavy Rain and Assassin's Creed working by using "File Serving" view in ProDG TM. Method, check to see where files are being read from and place the files in that location if they are not located there already.

I'd really appreciate some help here. I'm actually more interested in figuring out what the issue is and how to solve it, than I'm interested in playing the damn game anymore lol Please, if anyone is up for the challenge, let's get this damn game working. By the way, if you have not played this game yet, I recommend you give it a go. It is definitely fun and worthwhile.

    EDIT

    UPDATE 3:

This thread can be closed now. Thanks to help from Omnomnom, he advised me to, change "Boot Mode" to "Release" and now Vanquish loads perfectly fine. All this damn time that is all I needed to do lol. Some information as to why this method works would be appreciated though. AND, big thanks to Deank as well, the hints you provided to me allowed me to get Heavy Rain and Assassin's Creed working without having to spend endless hours searching forums.

    THANK YOU OMNOMNOM and Deank!!!!

    Regards,

    NeilJames
