hi my name is allen and i would like to know how to jailbreak a ps3... i learn fast with computers.(trust me... jailbreaking iphones are easy) and i was wondering if somebody could tell me step by step how to get 3.55 cfw on my ps3... it was made in october 2008 and is CECHK01 which i believe is nor... its original fw was 2.15... i learned that so far
If you're currently running any firmware, 3.55 and below, you can jailbreak very simply by means of transferring a patched update file to a USB drive and installing it on your ps3 in recovery mode. It could be that simple if you meet the prerequisites. If your firmware is 3.56+ then you will need to invest in a Hardware flasher to downgrade back to 3.55. I'm not fully aware of what this entails but there could be some soldering that may need to be done so it's not for everyone.
Sorry for basically repeating what you posted pete_uk but I figured I'd use a bit more information. As pete-uk asked, let us know what your firmware is and you'll get more in-depth guidance.
Yeah I may need help on this too. My PS3 is currently on firmware 4.25 and I was looking for a way to downgrade my PS3 without having to buy anything. The model is CECH-2501A. If there isn't a way to downgrade without having to pay should I just wait for a jailbreak for 4.25 to come out? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks.
