ps3 Sony: 'Consumers have decided 3D is not important now'

Sony UK boss Feral Gara says so...

According to Sony UK boss, gamers have dictated that 3D isn’t particularly relevant at the moment.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Sony UK boss Feral Gara talked about 3D and said that “consumers decide how relevant it is. It’s fair to say consumers have decided it’s not hugely important at this time.”

However, he also thinks 3D may still have 'a bigger life a little further down the line'...

“It’s a capability we’ve got,” Gara continued, “It may have a bigger life a little further down the line. It’s great we can do it. It doesn’t seem to be the most powerful USP at the moment, so you’ve seen us shift our effort onto fresh new exciting IP.”

“I’m certainly really pleased to see the strength of that as we look into next year. We’ve seen a resurgence really with the strength of the output from the studio network,” he concluded.
So, what's your take on 3D? Do you think its just a fad?

Very good because I never liked 3D. I saw 3D and I said nice but so what. Not interesting.

3D is only a fad if it continues to stay within the confines of glasses, bad viewing angles, and expensive hardware. I mean, it is only a gimmick and most 3D media doesn't take advantage of its 3D. Things just occasionally pop out. But, there's also the occulus rift "3D" where instead of coming at it, it puts you into the display. It's interesting. I'm sure we'll see more down the line. It would just fade away.

i love my 3ds ,but both active and passive glasses tv suck ,im not wasting money till there is autostereoscopic 3d tv,which has already been shown at CES, glasses 3r will be obsolete really soon, unless they make it more like real d or amusement park quality,

I never liked 3D, just felt like a gimmick to me, maybe down the line it'll be more practical and won't cause migraines , but for now it's just a fad just like it was in the 1900s.

It's a fad imho, I can't see the difference between today's 3d and 20 years ago, Maybe my eyes suck. 47 inch Nintendo 3ds screen would be the future when it's affordable to produce, I'll eat my words when this never happens
