There were no beeps at all. I held power off for few minutes and nothing.
Oh well, What's done is done. Dean should switch the directory back to normal.
If for any reason MM has to be deleted. The games will go with it unless backed up.
On what firmware did that happen? Using CFW, updating to DEX and updating to mmDEX can be a problem. mmDEX should be installed from scratch (without prior installations) and it is for 03.60-04.21 (probably will work on 3.55DEX but I haven't tested with DEXCFW only with OFW).

I was on Rogero 3.55 (DEX). Updated MM from 4.05.00 (CEX) to 4.05.07 (DEX)
and that's what happened when I went to boot it up.
I didn't know it needed to be installed fresh. That's "read fail" on my part.
I'm still wondering why the GAMES folder was changed to inside the multiman folder?
That's kind of scary, like I said if MM needs to be deleted for whatever reason.
All the backups need to be placed elsewhere before the deletion.
A "move" option would be nice. I know there is "copy" but that will double the space and,
in what was my case with 800GB's full in a 1TB HDD. It would be impossible to copy.
Is the GAMES directory in MM DEX directory an option?
Does MM DEX still read games from HDD0 / GAMES
Because if it don't, that's kind of stopping me from installing it.
Yes, hdd0/GAMES is used when peek&poke firmware is enabled and when the ps3 allows file/folder access to /dev_hdd0/... In 3.55 it should work, but on higher versions it doesn't. The problem with blackscreen and hdd crashes are conflicting access permissions from all the mixtures of 3.41/3.55 firmwares (and hermes payload), fixpermissions operations and whatnot.

What is meant here by fresh install? Does that mean completely removing/uninstalling mmCM(CEX) version from XMB before installing DEX MM?

No wonder everytime I load up mmCM it creates a 'GAMES" folder. I keep deleting it but it keeps on coming back. Now I know why! I have all of my PS3 games in the 'GAMEZ' folder & not the 'GAMES' folder. So, if we remove/uninstall mmCM we would lose anything installed to the 'GAMES' folder now? Is this correct because I don't wanna lose anything for future reference? Is this for both CEX & DEX? Thanks!

No, you will not lose anything from /dev_hdd0/GAMES or /dev_hdd0/GAMEZ. Also you are confused about GAMES/GAMEZ - there are options in the "options.ini" file and it is described there. One folder is the default to CREATE/COPY backups to (when you dump a PS3 game disc). The other is/are for looking/searching for backups. Usually both match (GAMES) but in your case you have 2 different.
On DEX 3.60-4.** /dev_hdd0/GAMES or /dev_hdd0/GAMEZ may not be accessible, hence mM creates the folder under its USRDIR and will use it if you decide to backup a PS3 GAME DISC to internal hdd. You can either do that (and FTP the backup to the PC) or backup to external USB HDD... Nothing really changed, so nothing to worry.

Apparently, a new and incoming CFW labeled 'Red Power's 4.21' is real, meaning that we could finally go beyond the 3.55 CFWs...
If you didn't know, a Chinese website broke news of a new 4.21 CFW labeled Red Power's 4.21, a few days ago.
Well, PS3 dev 'Deank' has hinted that this one is indeed real, and confirmed this CFW will not need a dongle of any sort:
I just woke up and read some posts about some chinese sh*tty dongle for 4.21... Just to make it clear - the mM update has nothing to do with it and doesn't need a dongle if used with 4.21cfw. It is a pure speculation I guess, because there are a lot of people around who won't allow another dongle to surface anyway. I don't believe that their dongle (which I doubt it exists at all) will see the light of any day!
Additionally, multiMAN has been updated to version 04.06.00 and it looks like this new CFW will be compatible with it when released to the public. PLUS, multiMAN just turned 2 years old...
You can get more (translated) info about the incoming Red Power's 4.21 CFW on the links below and by watching the following video.
And, stay tuned for more, as it looks like things are about to get a lot more exciting in the upcoming days!
