Unhappy Serious Issues with Rogero CEX-4.21 CFW v1.00 Free for All

    Hi guys,

I'm having trouble getting the new Rogero Firmware (Rogero CEX-4.21 CFW v1.00 Free for All) to work.
I followed the steps as described by Rogero.

I came from a TrueBlue CFW, so I first downgraded to cfw3.55 (kmeav) in order to make a nand/nor dump (with memdump) and activate qa flags (I checked that they were activated properly).
After that I flashed OFW3.55 (& checked again that the qa flags were activated properly).
I ran the Rogero CEX-4.21 CFW update from the recovery menu, as suggested, and the firmware was flashed properly.

After the new CFW was installed & my PS3 booted up I was prompted to "Restore database". There was no other option so I confirmed this. Unfortunately the restore of the database got stuck at 15% and after half an hour I shut down my ps3 and turned it on again in order to repeat the procedre of restoring the database. But again no luck - still stuck at 15%.

I tried to get into recovery / service mode but IT SIMPLY ISNT WORKING. I press the power button until it beeps 3 times and the console is in standby. Then I press & hold the power button again but it beeps again 3 times and the console shuts down. I'm doing this exactly as instructed but it doesnt work!

So what now? Im stuck at the restoring of the database and I cant flash nothing else too because my console wont boot up in recovery mode ... :-(

    Im really getting desperate

    regards

when you say stuck at 15%
how long did you wait ?
Because stuff like restore file system and other things can take a really long time

It hasn't changed from 15% for about 20-30minutes.
I forgot to mention that I replaced the regular HD with a 500GB HD.
Could it really be that its taking so long?

    Maybe
i know this is different but...
I got a 1000gb hdd recently like to backup the data took like 8 hours
and to put it on the new hdd took 10 hours and sometimes during it stayed at a % for a good while
i know restore is different to backup data but... these kind of things do take a long time

When you restoring the database try pressing the home button (when its stuck) to see if the red no sign pops up because if it does that means
it hasnt frozen and should try waiting longer
even if it takes a very long time but better do it and hopefully it'll be done and finished

Ill try it again tommorrow and Ill wait 1-2hours for any progress.
When I press the PS3 button it doesnt show the "no-sign" but i can see the "waves" in the background moving. doesnt seem that it froze to me.

How can u explain, that I cannot boot up into recovery mode?

    anyway, Ill keep you updated!

    thanks

Ok, now it's getting even crazier...
I switched back to my old Ps3 HD (80GB) and of course I had to restore the new system on that HD. This time everything worked. I even installed the new multiman and tried some games.

So I switched back to my 500GB and tried to boot into recovery mode and this time it worked. I chose "restore database" and it said something like "preparing". I waited for approx. 7 hours. When I checked back it still said "preparing". It hasn't frozen, because I could se the "bubble" in the upper right corner moving but there was no progress bar or such.

So I switched off my console and turned it on again. This time it didn't prompt me to recover the database, but it said that I had to reinstall the system software (by pressing select & start) on the HD (???????).
So this is a completely different behaviour from the first time.
I chose to reinstall the system software and pressed select & start. My USB stick with Rogero's 4.21 was plugged in. After some checks I got en Error 8002f2b5 (Data is corrupted). WTF??? I tried another time to copy the PUP from my pc to the usb stick but I still get the same error. Whats the problem here?

    Hey guys,

I still didnt find out what the problem is.
Anyway, is there a way to "save" the data in my ps3 HD?

It's obvious hat my ps3 is failing to restore the database so Im pretty much stuck here.

    Thank u guys
