Well i'm nut sure about that... I couldn't upgrade from 4.21 to 4.30 due an error, but I saw some reports from people who could. As this system has been bricked twice already, i'm more on the safe side now. So that's why I have chosen to go trough the downgrade.

This is all speculation based on the things I've been reading here and elsewhere. What I don't understand is the QA flag step. I've never used it so perhaps that's why I don't understand why it's plugged in there.
I too am waiting on Rebug 4.21 (unless they updated it to 4.30, which I kind of doubt as it's mostly pointless) and am currently on Rebug 3.55.2.
Thanks! I've just been curious as to why v3.7 seems so important.

Yeah access to PSN and Online gaming is pretty much pointless i agree.
I've read people have upgraded just fine without going back to 3.55, if not through the XMB then via recovery. As Deathwing said it's simply paranoia, in my opinion stemming from people confusing 3.55 being the only firmware from which CFW can be installed, with the fact that the 4.XX CFWs have the abilities that 3.55 CFW has.
I mean think about it logically. If one can downgrade back to 3.55, then why the hell would upgrading be a problem?
aslong as you have been on 3.55 ofw at anytime and have not downgraded your fine, if you went dex and back you would have qa flagged so your fine as you would have installed an ofw to reset flags if someone downgraded your console then qa flag it and you will be fine.
the lvl0 checks are the issue now not the other bugs

It remains to be seen how Sony will react. If they react in their typical fashion, it'll just be a passkey update and probably minor firmware push. If they start banning or blacklisting, then what's the point of PSN on CFW? Any level headed dev will see this and also see that people will want PSN, so I wouldn't personally be against any choice they make. It's also possible they will do nothing at all, but pretty unlikely.

Paranoia? So, uhmm. I could just try to go "directly" from Rogeros 4.21 (First version) to Rogeros 4.30 with no chance of bricking?

I tried installing it directly from recovery, but I couldn't. I did get an error Error 8002F967. When trying from XMB i get: Error 8002F967: Update data of version 1.97 or later can be installed on this system. So it's not that I had an option or paranoia. I simply couldn't. So that's why I've downgraded, and upgraded again.

Pretty much. When installing new firmware on the PS3 (just like the PSP) it completely reinstalls it. It's not just adding updates. So I don't see what the problem could be if this is the case.
Plus I've read confirmations that people have done it. So go for it.

Fair enough. If it had worked then I think it would've been a safe option.

The only reason (other than lying or trolling) I could come up with that some people can update from 4.21 CFW to 4.30 CFW is that perhaps something changed or some kind of bug showed up in the update process between 4.21 1.00 and 4.21 1.09. Most people just say "updated from 4.21 to 4.30 just fine." Just a theory on my part.
