As for updating the firmware for cobra-usb dongle, i heard it was in the works, not sure if any update, i will ask.
it would be great (and very often at the announcement of the new device does not support the old one)

If you're talking about the dongle then it is much more functions than a normal CFW (full emulator PS1, PS2 emulator on the console with and without backward compatibility (hopefully in the new firmware will improve its support for consoles without backward compatibility), PSP emulator, play BD/BD3D movies, play all the games without the disc in the drive without the need go to DEX, play games with 4GB+ files from an external HDD without copying the file 4GB+ to an internal HDD. And if you specifically about this product that if they learned how to get the key BD drive with OFW 3.56+, or via PC, then the device can be used at all, even on PS3 that can not be downgraded (with factory firmware 3.60 and above)
i'm wondering if BD-Rom Emulator or BD MIRROR inside MM was the same feature as ODE and 3k3y device ??
No , that is just a different software mode that doesnt work with all games, the ODE's will be emulating the disk drive transparently to the PS3 via hardware and it should have 100% compat.

True, But I expect there will be a bypass mode to allow the real drive to be used, or if not there will not be any use for the real drive anyway as you can just make images of any real disks you own using their PC addon for attaching the PS3 BD drive via USB.

Also no info on this yet but I would expect it will still be region locked for movies as its emulating Real drive and to have too many hacks (like region free etc) would increase the ODE's chances of being detected on PSN. I could be wrong on this though but either way it makes very little difference to the end user as they can just rip/download movies/games from their own region

That is what 3K3Y have stated, I expect the way the hardware works discless wont be a problem as the ODE is emulating the fact that a disk is in drive so games will be started from the disk icon exactly as if disk was in drive.

Who can guess what tricks sony have up their sleeves, I expect they can update BD firmware and console firmware to handle BD data differently, this could be a major problem for the ODE companies as no one is going to buy these if they are constantly being blocked by Sony and then reenabled by updates from 3K3y/Cobra. Hopefully thay have it setup so the console firmware can update the 3K3Y with new official drive firmwares somehow, unlikely but it would be cool if it worked transparently to PS3 in this way.

Yep, if they can be used on "unhackable" ps3's then Cobra has proven themselves relevant. But if they have the same weakness as 3key, namely, you need to be on cfw to start, then they really aren't much better functionwise than 3key, and irrelevant in a scene where you can do all of that for free with cfw, or with another paid product. If those unfortunate enough to not be able to install cfw can use this then Cobra made a good product.

I am very curious to see this device working. Glad to see competition to 3k3y (letīs hope some price wars :-)
Even if i think this kind of devices are late to the game (1 year late in my opinion), itīs good to see some honest and true hardware hack (not some rdrm dongle), and with that, kudos to both teams!
Letīs hope some more info / videos / pictures from it!
