Hey guys, what's the best CFW to use now that CEX/DEX conversions are out and we can use 4.xx FW? I haven't really been paying THAT much attention to the scene as I pawned my PS3. But I just got it out yesterday and I'm wanting to get back into the scene fully.
So what is the best CFW? If you say it's a CEX/DEX CFW can you give me a tutorial on how to install it?
Also a question on a specific CFW - Is there a detailed tutorial on how to install REBUG 4.21 CFW? Also how do I run games on the latest CFW and does it require any patching of the games, etc?
http://deviant-generation.com/ - my site. Contact me, Korn, and gDrive. I'm the most active but they do come over to speak to me. Likewise it's always a place to send them a message when you need to. Plus you can meet my graphics team!

I use Rebug more options (like Dex to name a few). Only Rebug CFW lets you choose dex or cex. Rogero has CFW as well but not as many options more for straight gamers. There's a few other CFW's that people don't really talk about much anymore cause the "devs" of them havent said much, like E3 for example.
As far as "detailed tutorial" you can check the http://www.ps3crunch.net/forum/threa...%B2-DOWNGRADER thread but there's alot of posts in there. The info should be on the OP and on rebug.me site (however rebug site was down last I checked)
Basically you just QA toggle from CFW 3.55, then install rebug 3.55.3 and go to rebug 4.21. 999downgrader is to go back to 3.55 from 4.21+ if you're not QA toggled. Then once on rebug go to install packages, then from internal hard drive package location install rebug toolbox. This is where most of the extra options come in like otherOS and dex.

Ok so I'm on TB's CFW still IIRC. So what should I do? Go back to OFW 3.55, QA toggle, then go to Rebug 3.55.3 and then Rebug 4.21? Can I simply go from QA toggeled 3.55 to Rebug 4.21? Also just to make sure when you say "go to rebug 4.21" you also mean to install the CFW right? Not just toggle a feature? There's so much damn information in that link that it's overwhelming lmao!

Pretty much as you say but think you will have to qa toggle after 3.55.3 as no install package option on ofw and yes pretty sure he means install rebug 4.21. After installing toolbox enable rebug mode and install latest multiman any games that have post 4.21 eboots multiman will give u a prompt to fix them!

You're DEFINITELY going to have to use CFW if you're going to QA flag your system as there's no Install PKG Files XMB entry on OFW.
I also uploaded an all-in-one pack on the Rogero 4.30-2.03 thread at Tortuga Cove if anyone wants to install the latest Rogero 4.30 firmware, but if you're more interested In REBUG's offering, then you're going to have to go to their site to get their firmware PUPs

OK boot TB CFW on ps3 without dongle in, install KMEAW 3.55. Get this (qa toggle) https://anonfiles.com/file/bc2f0aa6d...0202e168c43de4 run qa toggle on KMEAW system should beep quickly a few times and reboot.
To make sure qa toggle worked on XMB go to Settings> and highlight Network Settings then press and hold R1, R2, L1, L2, L3 and down on control pad. Debug Settings (with edy viewer) should appear underneath Network Settings, that means system is qa toggled
Then install Rebug 3.55.3 from XMB, check to make sure still qa toggled with above button combo, then install Rebug 4.21 from XMB
(I'm not exactly sure what spkg sig check means literally, but pretty sure its about a CFW with LV1 Checks Disabled to bypass the Syscon hashes, like Rogero v3.X and rebug 3.55.3
Kmeaw DOES NOT have LV1 checks disabled)
(PS I included QA toggle as Ive heard many of times rebugs links to it are dead, once you are on 3553 and/or 421 qa toggle is included in rebug toolbox)

Nice to see you back in the game.
Im going to say if you want to use Rebug REX firmware then you may as well use the WHOLE version of it. By this I mean prepping your PS3 for DEX conversion.
While you're still looking at a 3.55 box you might want to use the eEID_RKDumper pkg by flatz to obtain eid root key, use mm to dump console flash and then its just a matter of running this info through the scene provided PC apps.
All my modded consoles are DEX now but earlier in the year I reverted 1 back to CEX so that I could have two bluray players(that one and my OFW box). With REX I can flash between modes without the need to switch firmware if I need to use a second bluray player for whatever reason and all are once again DEX or should I say REX.
There are some things that DEX can do that dongless CEX cant do such as playing your games that are stored on your home server. There are probably a few things that a modded CEX can do that a DEX cant, which is another reason REX is great and why you would want to use it to its full potential>>> cause you have the best of both worlds from an end user stand point
Earlier posts touched on the QA flag being a necessity and that is the absolute truth. Brick risks are minimal for someone like yourself that has been around long enough to know that the key an install is read, read and read before attempting said install(if you choose the DEX route).

QA Flagging, and as equally as importantly, Syscon Hash Resetting, which is usually done by installing a firmware PUP in recovery mode and holding down START+SELECT, are the important steps to prevent one from bricking their system.
