Actually no they aren't. And what I mean about a 25 to life is that like you said after you spend 25 years and then get a chance at parole. But I used that just as an example. Depending on the situation (just like a pedo) you may get a lesser sentence. But for a murderer after you are done with your time, all you have is probation. Whereas a sex offender has to serve their time, has probation, has to register as a sex offender on a list, and THEN has a laundry list of regulations. So the two can't even be compared.
Here's the difference between the two.
Murderer
Jail time
Probation
Sex offender
Jail time
Probation
Has to register as a sex offender.
Has to abide by regulations such as can't be near schools or where children gather, has to register with police/local agencies whenever he/she moves, has to provide all contact info, etc.
See I understand the regulations when it comes to kids, etc. But still once they are convicted, they will never have a normal life again. Every one and their brother knows exactly what they did or rather what they were convicted for, knows exactly where they live, etc. Once you are branded a sex offender, you never lose that label. So actually you are constantly being tortured. When in all honesty all they need to do is chemically castrate them and the problems are solved.
Plus you don't seem to realize that "sex offender" is a broad label. Even though their are multiple levels, you are treated the exact same by society. You can be branded a sex offender just because you got caught urinating in public or because you got drunk and went streaking. Both of those acts could have absolutely nothing to do with children. Meaning children didn't see you at all and you STILL get treated as if you were convicted of sexual abuse/molestation of a minor.
Whereas a murderer doesn't have to worry about those things. He/she can disappear and will never be screwed with again. Or he/she can reintegrate with society and live a relatively normal life.
Dude, there's better ways to solve the situation in the case of SEN,XBL, etc then outright banning them. All you have to do is ban their communication privileges. They can't solicit minors if they have no access to voice/text chats. All of the examples you suggested are easily fixed by simply banning their access to voice, and text. Simple fix.
What New york and most likely other places are doing is taking a simple fix and just choosing the lazy way out. Which has a bad side effect of removing yet another healthy outlet for these sick fucks and pushing them more towards their sick ones. The more forms of healthy entertainment we remove from these people, the more likely they are too go towards their sick entertainment.
Also again, not every sex offender was charged with molesting a minor/sexual abuse. There are a large number of sex offenders who got branded with that label because they were caught urinating in public, or got drunk and went streaking. And again a lot of these cases had nothing to do with children at all. No children saw them in either case. But they were still labeled the exact same label as the REAL SICK FUCKS.

Again, it only takes a few seconds to set the parameters for a removal of voice and text access. If they can take the time to input all the user accounts for a mass ban, they can take a few extra seconds and simply remove them from Voice/chat access. I know for a fact it's easy as hell for MS to do. They've banned me from voice/text chat before. Even though it was temporary they still did it. It's pure laziness and again removes a healthy form of entertainment from these sick fucks which will drive them closer to their sick sexual urges because they are losing healthy outlets to occupy their brain.
And again, sex offender is a broad label that is imposed on individuals who have done a myriad of things. Simply urinating in public or getting drunk and streaking can net you the exact same label. Kids don't even have to be involved at all in these cases and they still get the same label. Is that OK to you? It's not for me. Why? Because I know I've went out in the woods somewhere or in an emergency opened up my car door in a parking lot and pissed.(I hid behind the car door of course.) Now who's to say I forget to look over my shoulder for a few seconds and BOOM a cop pops my ass? There goes my life. I have bladder problems so even though it's not common, I have had an emergency where I had to go outside where it's considered "public."
I won't say streaking because after my mom got me drunk when I was 13 as a life lesson, I'll never be drunk again so I don't have to worry about streaking. But hell when I went through my psychotic break(for those who don't know it wasn't because I'm insane. It was because I was under a huge amount of stress when I was around 13 and I stayed up for 7 days straight. So the combination of stress and insomnia made me have a psychotic break.) I was streaking around the house because I kept thinking my mom was calling out to me and I was convinced I killed my step-father. Which I could have easily ran outside and got popped for that offense as well. I wouldn't have been able to control myself as I was out of my fucking mind. Granted the probability that will ever happen to me again is pretty much zero, it's still "plausible" though. Thank god I wasn't able to get outside or I they made sure I couldn't get outside.
But basically what I'm trying to say is that I've found two completely plausible scenarios where I could have been put on a sex offenders list. The first scenario could happen at any time due to my medical issues. I either have a choice of pissing in my pants or trying my damndest to get as far away from a public area as possible before I go to the bathroom. Which is not always an easy or even possible thing to do. So my options are either A) piss my pants lol or B) do my damndest to shield myself and pray for the best.

Also take in mind (in the US) you can be put on that list for being caught pissing in public. Also consider (and this happens more than you know, even has happened to me and some of my friends) A person claiming rape after they had consensual sex they later regretted.
Exactly, people don't even account for the sluts/bitches/whatever in this world that will cry rape just to fuck over a guy. You don't even know how common this is.

I can understand where Rautz is coming from... in our countries if you rape/molest someone (child or adult) you're a sex offender. If you take a piss in public, you were unlucky to get busted and cop a small fine. If you streak you're a dick and get a small fine and if its at a sporting match then you get banned from the venue.
Don't you guys just warehouse your paedophiles now? I watched Louis Theroux the other night and he was at a "hospital" where sex offenders get sent after jail to live out the rest of their lives.. can't remember the name of it but it started with C.

Sorry for the double but stock 2255 makes yet another perfect example of why the sex offender laws here in the states are fucked. The statutory rape statues are just horrible. As an example here in VA the age of consent (meaning the legal age a minor can legally say yes and it be taken as consensual sex) is 16. Where as the legal age for "legal sex" is actually 18 here. So here in Va if you are 16 you can say yes, but your boyfriend can still be prosecuted under statutory rape laws until you are 18. So even though you are of legal age to have the legal ability to say yes, you still can't physically have sex till your 18. Otherwise your boyfriend will be on the sex offenders list if you two get caught and files are charged, you start PMSING one day and say he raped you, etc.
So before people see the word "sex offender" and automatically assume everyone who is labeled with that molested a child, read the various statutes and degrees of the sexual offender conviction. You can simply get caught urinating in public, or having legal consensual sex with a 16 year old.
So what's the take away from this? Well it's quite simple. The following pertains to the US. 1) Sex offender is a broad label that can mean a myriad of different things. 2) Outright banning people when they can simply have their voice/text privileges revoked is bullshit. 3) If you are 18+ no matter how much you love a girl, never have sex with her till she's 18. Otherwise you may become a sex offender yourself even though she meets the age of consent, she gave consent, etc.

No in most cases we don't warehouse pedophiles or sex offenders. They are in a sense just given a form of lifetime probation. And what I mean by that is they have to register on Megan's site, and they have to deal with a whole shit load of new regulations. this site can be accessed from anywhere in the states and even internationally I believe. It shows the various "levels" of sex offenders which in all honesty is fucking arbitrary when it comes to the actual statutes/society's view for the most part. The various levels are basically red, orange, and yellow or something. Red basically means you raped an adult or child, etc, orange is middle ground I guess statutory rape(even if the girl consented like the case of age of consent being 16 but the actual "LEGAL" age of sex being 18. VA as an example has this fucked up law. A girl can say yes at 16 as an adult but I can be charged as a sex offender under statutory rape until she's 18.), and yellow is like public urination or something.
Like in my neighborhood there's like 2-3 sex offenders on my street and on Route 2 (the highway that goes all the way into Fredericksburg city) there's another 10+ sex offenders of various levels stretching all the way down.

A little off topic: that's a contradicting law. It's so pointless. Here in GA, the age of legal consent is 16. Once you reach 16, you can go off a have sex with anybody as long as you consent and no one will get charged for statutory. Though there was talk about imposing a legal age to have sex, which would've been 18, but that would've negated the age of consent law.
I guess that's how more people end up on the sex offender list.

I know in Canadia (or at least where I was in Canadia) consent was 16, and you would only be charged with statutory rape if the age difference exceeded 5 years, which I think is fair, I mean, really there's not a ton of age difference between 16 and 18.
16 and a 25 year old.. is just creepy because of the person being 16... 18 and 25.. fuck it, do what you want lol. (yes, I know that's a double standard because of those 2 years but(t) fuck it, the worlds built on double standards, and it's our god given right to be fucking hypocrites, now if you excuse me, I'm going back to enjoying the DLCz for my Games (and not Gamez))
Where is the fight to ban people from playing online violent games if they are caught bringing a gun to school. I know of many cases where kids as young as 12 have been seen playing with guns, but can go home and play violent games online, then one day just might turn into the newton shooter.
Sorry to bring another subject into this thread, but it just makes me sad, there is double standards, like one of the poster says between murderers and sex offenders, and the fact my first girlfriend was murdered by crazed guy with pistol on crowded subway car, but when he gets out he will be fine to walk into store buy xbox 360, cod and play online shooting away.
As for sex offender stuff it is bad, it just not physical sex anymore, there is many cases of sex-text'ing or sharing of photos between two teenagers, if one of them is underage or both of them in some cases, and those outside like parents or other students find out about the photos, (normally due to a fight between them), then one or both get charged for making child porn, yep the laws are crazy.
