hey guys, is anyone else having huge slowdowns here? I'm lagging like crazy! Which shouldn't be happening! I know this laptop isn't the best computer in the world but this site is the only site I'm having problems on no matter what I have open.
And considering my speed I shouldn't have this problem.
here's my speedtest.
EDIT: Basically the site is taking forever to load. Pages freeze up for several seconds before they finally load, etc.

I've had that once or twice, but past few days It's been speedy, other than sometimes it takes an extra second or two after the page loads for the "go to last post" button shows up
I thought maybe it was my net, as it is only 1meg speed.
The one thing I noticed on hot news stories like the new multiman, if the images are hosted elsewhere like imageshack instead of here locally, the page loads much slower.
I also noticed during xmas holidays, a huge spike of bots trying to guess the root password, which slows the server, as if defends off the botnet bruteforce, I guess they forgot that my own secret weapon http://scmods.com never sleeps, over 350 ip's blocked xmas day alone!
If I find some other problems I will update this post, the other thing that slows down is the amount of ads we have, sadly they are needed to support the site, but if you use adblock (not recommended) it helps, but even better is to upgrade to 'Number Cruncher' status, and you will find the site will load alot faster, no extra sponsor crap at all so nothing for adblock to load and then junk out.
