Yea, try what deank said; he knows what he's talking about. Also, don't take apart your ps3 based on anything I say (was assuming you had removed connectors to do repairs). Anyway, here's a link; don't know if it has exactly what you need.
epic link man! not sure if anything on it will help me yet though.
the controller reset didnt do anything man
just got a bluray remote to be recognized.... im thinking it has to be something wrong with the USB ports themselves.... at least i hope so. those would be easy to replace if i can get ahold of a for parts ps3 on ebay or something

yeh its the weirdest thing dude. i mean youve read my other posts. usb keyboard works fine, 3rd party RF dongle controller works sometimes but the DS3s dont do ANYTHING when plugged in via usb. which means i cant sync them to be used with the system
havent found anything on that site you gave me bout possible fixes for the USB ports sadly. seems im kind of on my own atm
May be you should try different USB cable. Also try to connect the DS3 controller to a PC and check if it charges (blinking 4 lights). Try to reset the DS while connected to the PS3 and then press {PS} button. You can try to twist the USB connector a bit at the PS3 side and hold it twisted while trying to connect/{PS}.

OMG that is *exactly* what it is! I should be able to just run a couple jumper wires to fix the shorts, right? (I have never been able to solder broken traces back, certainly not tiny ones like this) Thank you for the awesome tip, and I'm a little embarrassed that I missed it on first inspection

Yeehaw! Remember how I just said I've never been able to fix a broken trace? I used a magnifying glass, scraped back the epoxy a mm or so on both ends of the break, then tinned a single strand of thin copper wire, snipped it down to about 3 mm, laid it directly on the bad trace, crossed my fingers and touched it with ol' Needletip. It grabbed it, of course, but I was steady enough to put the melted thing back down, where it stuck. Couple of continuity checks, did a quick test and BOOM, I have a $25 B/C 80GB phat for the collection. And the kicker? I wasn't able to even check the firmware version till now, and it's on 3.50
Thanks again for your tip, rrelite!
Hi everyone. I just joined this site because I am having this issue and I ran into the same problem! I am thankful and worried: thankful because you guys are brilliant to have trouble shooted the problem and have success resolving it; worried: this fix sounds real delicate and I hope I can pull it off...

Hi there, I have the same issue. Fixed the trace, tried multiple controllers, continuity is good from end to end and does not have it where it shouldn't.. None of the 4 ports work. I have the CECH-E01.
1. Can someone give me a diagram of the motherboard and where I can solder the wires from a duelshock 3 directly to the CECH-E01 motherboard? I don't mind doing it this way, but nobody has this online to look at.
2. Is there a controller out there that never needs to be plugged into the usb port?
3. Does anyone have any other ideas on what could be the problem?
I'm not a novice, I'm good with soldering.. Could all 4 usb ports be fried and I just need to replace them? Thanks guys.
