    Need some driver help.

I play/record music and use protools 10 and waves plugins. Anyway, i figured out my problem, my waves plugins will crash cause it doesnt like my graphics driver which happens to be the most current version. When i rollback to the one that came with my laptop all is fine, only problem is this rollback driver doesnt seem to support my maximum screen resolution.

Anyway, i dont know much about searching for proper drivers, just needed help finding other graphics drivers that may let me use max resolution and keep my waves plugins from crashing.

    I have a Compaq CQ60 615DX laptop with the built-in/motherboard graphics (win7 ultimate 64 bit)

Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
    VERSION: 8.15.10.1872 Rev. A

is the latest driver that crashes my plugins.

Anyhelp on finding other graphics drivers for my computer would be much appreciated.

Are you downloading the latest drivers from the compaq site or the the gpu site? For laptops, you should always get the drivers from the manufacturer....

Laptop graphic driver should always be downloaded from the manufacturer support site and as I can see you have original and latest drivers for your GPU. You can try to download latest BIOS from HP and see if that solves your problem.
If you already have the latest BIOS and system still crashes with latest graphic drivers when using your protools then install original driver and use lower resolution until HP rolls out new GPU driver.

Can't help you more on this one

yeah i have the latest BIOS. I had some latency problems with some drivers, so i had to try different ones, whichever drivers i used before this problem worked with my plugins and highest resolution. problem is i cant find it again or remember which one it was, as I switched the drivers a bunch.

Mainly I was wondering if anybody could find graphics drivers for my laptop besides the latest one as I cant seem to find any previous versions.

I think i was using 8.15.10.2869 but now that one wont install.

    http://www.compaq.com/country/cpq_support.html

Go here, enter in your product number and it should give you a complete list of drivers for your laptop and their past revisions.

Thanks rednekcowboy, but i already figured it out.

    Went from:
8.15.10.1872 Rev. A > 8.15.10.2555 (apparently this isn't listed as the latest driver and it is)
works now with full resolution (or maybe it's not supposed to work with my laptop but does)

And that link you gave me is the one that tells me to use 8.15.10.1872 Rev. A with no previous or other versions listed.

Waves just requires openGL which is what 8.15.10.1872 Rev. A is but for some reason doesn't like it, but 8.15.10.2555 works (which that link doesn't mention)

The main difference between these 2 is the 8.15.10.1872 Rev. didn't have the functionality to control 3D settings for DirectX and only had openGL settings not direct X, the one im using that works does.

Basically this seen here just for future reference: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-030506.htm

    EDIT:
8.15.10.2555 is also the driver i mentioned that worked for waves previously (but didnt know the name/version) luckily I found it on my computer.
